Great home win by WT. What could have been if they held the lead against Mines and Western Oregon.

Not that I know of, but I rarely look at basketball posts.

The 2nd half against MSU was the best half the Buffs played in 2021. Except for the goal line interception Gerber gave up (the receiver on the outside was open), when WT could have gone up 22-12, the Buffs played a complete 2nd half. The line blocked. Compton and Gerber found ways to keep the chains moving. WT scored TDs and an all-important 2 pt conversion. Even the play-calling left less to be wished for than usual.

The 2nd half D was superlative. Time and again Midwestern was stopped 3 and out. The D-line kept the QB in the pocket and put on pressure. Freshman LB JT Cavender had 20 tackles. The secondary made plays and kept the talented Pony WRs in front of them. A damn good performance from the defense.

And, as one of the WT posters has often blamed, Hughes half-time "demotivation" speech did not work. Play like last night, over the course of the season, and WT would be 8-2 now and with a legitimate case for the play-offs.

As usual, WT will have to look to next year for that play-off spot.

Very enjoyable game last and was very entertaining. WT always puts on a great show and the atmosphere is great. I would bet WT ranks with the best. Maskill and his young men showed some great class last night when our young man was injured.

You are right, the demotivation speech wasn't in play last night. The 3rd quarter was exceptional for WT.

Harris being out has actually helped WT's offense. He is a great athlete, but he doesn't do "up the middle" that well. Compton does it very well. Last night looking at online stats, there were times that my screen had nothing but "up the middle" plays.

The D won the game. Special teams were not good. You can't get many wins with 4 yard punts. One of the kickoffs was so short it was fair-caught. Offense was a little better, but like in the Angelo and Kingsville wins, WT had fewer yards than they did. Gerber was 12 of 22 for 117 yards and a pick. With good coaching, he should throw for 250+ yards per game. They shouldn't be giving up safeties in 3 straight games.

                  Solution: better coaches.

Yes, I agree. The best example of new coaching making a difference is the WBB team. New coach, new attitude, trust me - it's going to be fun.
This is what is needed for Football.
