Rumors are swirling that TSU is in serious talks with CUSA to join and become a FBS team and expand the stadium to 20,000 plus.

    Wait... what?

Someone in Stephenville needs to pump the brakes a little bit. No disrespect to Tarleton fans, but you've been an FCS school for (figuratively) a minute and now you wanna jump into FBS? Maybe they should just wait until they complete their transition from D2 to D1 before even considering a move from FCS to FBS.

It's one thing for a long-established FCS program like Sam Houston State to move up, but Tarleton?

And, for that matter, is Wisdom Gym up to snuff to be a part of C-USA?

This sounds like pure desperation by C-USA to stay marginally relevant now that the 'Merican and Sun Belt have effectively blown past them.

As long as they can meet these requirements ( good luck).......

An institution classified in Football Bowl Subdivision shall meet all the Division I membership requirements set forth in NCAA Division I Bylaws 20.9.1 through 20.9.5 and in addition, shall:

      1. Sponsor a minimum of 16 varsity intercollegiate sports, including football, based on the minimum sports sponsorship and scheduling requirements set forth in Bylaw 20. Sponsorship shall include a minimum six sports involving all male teams or mixed teams (males and females), and a minimum of eight varsity intercollegiate teams involving all female teams. Institutions may use up to two emerging sports to satisfy the required eight varsity intercollegiate sports involving all female teams. [Bylaw 20.9.7.1]

      2. Schedule and play at least 60 percent of its football contests against members of Football Bowl Subdivision. Institutions shall schedule and play atleast five regular season home contests against Football Bowl Subdivision opponents. [Bylaw 20.9.7.2]

      3. Average at least 15,000 in actual or paid attendance for all home football contests over a rolling two-year period. [Bylaw 20.9.7.3]

      4. Provide an average of at least 90 percent of the permissible maximum number of overall football grants-in-aid per year over a rolling two-year period. [Bylaw 20.9.7.4-(a)]

      5. Annually offer a minimum of 200 athletics grants-in-aid or expend at least four million dollars on grants-in-aid to student-athletes in athletics programs. [Bylaw 20.9.7.4-(b)]

(#3 is the killer for sure as it requires 15K PAID. So students, comp tickets, etc. do not count.)

Do student fees count as paid attendance?
Who was the first person to look at a cow and say, "I think I'll squeeze these dangly things here, and drink whatever comes out?"

Maybe the 9 point loss at Gonzaga went to their heads when Gonzaga was struggling and had their lowest scoring game? If they are that good at basketball it may factor in too in hopes of a higher seed from CUSA.

Are you suggesting that Tarleton's potential move to FBS is being fueled by College Station?

A&M system is trying to gain national exposure by moving sister schools to D1 and Tarleton is the test. Commerce has followed. WT doesn't want to move up and Kingsville is a joke. So the mothership is sending $$$ to upgrade facilities and market Tarleton and Commerce to the D1 level. The BOR, president, and AD all want it so it's going to happen.

Tarleton is a PUF school TAMUC is NOT. Big difference in garnering $$$ for your University. Casino revenue as long as oil and natural gas flows in West Texas.
