The B1G reportedly expressed little to no interest in Stanford or Cal, Berkeley in this round. That could change depending on where Warshington or Nike Corporation University of Oregon end up.
At a bare minimum, the XII needs to go after UofA, ASU, Colorado and Utah to start. Perhaps down the road either Washington/Oregon or Cal/Stanford end up joining to get the XII to 18.
If the XII really wanted to grow a set and expand to 20 (presuming the XII gets six of the 10 remaining PAC schools), why not target Florida State and Miami? Yes, I know the ACC grant of rights TV bit is a hangup for FSU/UM, but those two schools would at least fill some of the "prestige holes" created when TU-Austin and No U left for the SEC. Barring that, two of the three among Louisville, Pitt or Virginia Tech would at least give West Virginia and Cincinnati closer rivals.
Hell, if the SEC and B1G wanna get to 20 and beyond, the XII needs to be very aggressive in plucking away the PAC or even ACC schools when the time comes.
As for the SEC trying to pluck away a current/future XII member, I think that ship has sailed. I can't help but think they're going to aggressively target ACC schools before going after the XII (again).
