Wasn't really racist, but c'mon, the very first thing an American thinks of when they here this is the KKK, and SFU is the only Canadian university playing in the NCAA. It was a wise move.

Didn't say it wasn't a wise move. I was pointing out that not everyone agreed with the change. Personally, I would have gone with Highlanders, would still have honored the Fraser name and is kinda fitting given that SFU is located in hill country.

I agree. Highlanders or something to note the Scottish heritage seems better. Also, the only team I know of that is named after a leaf is the Toronto Maple Leafs, and they’re not exactly known for hoisting Stanley Cups.
