Anyone know when a defensive player last wont the Harlon Hill Trophy? Not a trick question, I honestly don't know. But, and I follow D2 ball; there hasn't been anyone this year who has done more to get his team where they are than Mr. Volk. I hope he gets what he rightfully earned.

Oh, and we will need the new QB to step up tomorrow, I'm confident this young man has the tools to do so......And, the defense needs to keep up what its been doing.

My Christmas wish this year is a win tomorrow..

    GO CATS!

      To answer your question, 1995.

I am not sure why, but like the Heisman, they don't pick defensive players to win.

Oddly enough, only ONE purely defensive player ever won a Heisman. Charles Woodson in '97.

What helped his cause is he also was a productive player on offense.

I think he won 3 times. No?
He did win 3 straight years.

You're right. I forgot he started playing a little WR his Sophmore year and would be in 8-10 plays a game on offense.

So, there has NEVER been a defense only Heisman winner!

                Tanner Volk S Central Washington
                Kyle Walljasper QB Minnesota Duluth
It's probably Matocha's award to lose, but nice to see Volk honored. He's had a great year.
Wow, half from MN teams, my home state and better known for being the ‘State of Hockey’. Although a couple hoops stars have recently been produced as well in Chet Holmgren and Jalen Suggs.

Yep. I think there are really only 2 players head to head for it and the rest are just honorable mentions.
