  • 2024 Recruiting

Well, today is early signing day. So we will see which recruits get signed today by the D1 programs so we can come in and lick up the leftovers!

CWU so far has 1 early commit in Union HS 6'3" WR Ben Hallead. CWU is doing well with going beyond state lines to recruit. Of their 13 known offers I have seen announced on X so far, 6 are out of state including 2 from Arizona, where former CWU QB Zak Hill coaches HS ball. CWU also offered WR Eric Stephens from Hawaii, who has 25 other offers from D2, D3, and NAIA as well as Army and Navy and a PWO from Hawaii. He led the state in receiving yards though a bit undersized at 5'10" 170 lb.

With Washington and Washington State taking only three in state recruits each, Central Washington should make hay in their own state, which is a very good state for high school football. If I was them I wouldn't even waste much time going out of state. Their best teams were about 95% Washington kids on their rosters.

I saw Eastern's signing class and it wasn't super hot so there is still tons of talent for Central to go after.

Butttttt...... we also like picking off your Oregon kids as well!

CWU just got commitment from 6'6" 300 lb Tigard OL John Stone Jr, ranked #36 2024 recruit in Oregon. He committed the same day he announced his offer!

Out of state scholarships cost you more money and reduces the ability to give high quality in-state players more money. I see that Eastern Washington which a few years ago had 95% of its roster from in-state is now taking bad players from out of state. I loved Eastern Washington's in-state quarterback recruit. I hate to see these schools ignore their state, they are regional universities, not UCLA or Michigan. I've said a number of times I think Western Oregon blows it by focusing too much on California, though they do have a healthy number of in-state kids now. Their basketball team is a joke with one in-state player and they're the worst team in the conference. That's just bad. I don't think our athletic director pays attention to any of these trends or wins and losses.

It's been a while since I've anticipated a signing season and upcoming season as this one. Wildcat Nation, I appreciate the research!

Coach Fisk sure loves stockpiling offensive linemen! CWU gets commitment from 6'7" 290 lb Mount Vernon OT Lucas Johnson, days after 6'6" 300 lb Tigard (Oregon) OT John Stone Jr.

UTPB has the #1 transfer class in the country again. They also have a the #18 HS QB in Texas committed. They are crushing it in recruiting.

Is #1 transfer class an opinion or ranked somewhere? I don't doubt they're reloading though. That coach seems to recruit well.

That's awesome that your administration and coaching staff is all in on winning now and in the future.

Out of state tuition is higher than in-state tuition.
