  • UT-Tyler Athletics Success

Just noticing UT-Tyler's name showing up in a lot of sports playoffs discussion.

They have made the world series in baseball and softball, the final four in mens tennis, and regionals in womens basketball.
    ..
The only sports they were poor in were mens basketball and mens soccer.

I wonder behind the scenes if their athletic department is really good at choosing coaches, NIL, UT-Austin support, etc.

It would be interesting if they added football.

Even more impressive when you consider that they've only been eligible for the D2 postseason since 2021. Were they this good when they were D3 as well?

They won D3 titles in baseball (2018) and softball (2016) shortly before moving up.

I compared the WT and Tyler softball coaching staffs. WT has a head coach, an assistant coach, a graduate assistant (and former player) coach and 5 “student assistants”. If you watch the games one of those student assistants is the guy who yells “BOY BOY BOY BOY BOYER” continuously while Emily Boyer is on the field. I have no idea what else he does.

Tyler has a head coach, an assistant head coach, and
3 assistant coaches, including a dedicated pitching coach. He must be REALLY good, because he’s also the head coach at a high school. Tyler’s pitching is always top of the line; that coach has been there for 8 years.

The other assistant coaches are full time and have previous experiences coaching.

Does this mean UT is better about funding their satellites than A&M? I think so.

They won't. Not funding football is their secret sauce for lots of funding for the other programs. Lots of student taxes coming in, and no football drain.

Same for DBU and UT Dallas.
