I won't be buying the mag this year.

Just after posting Cory Houge's LSC outlook, DCTF cut him loose.

Not sure if the magazine is struggling, but non FBS football coverage will likely be even more scarce.

I look at the facebook page but quit getting the magazine years ago.

Was it a pretty good read or just regurgitation based on the previous years results?

Well that's $50 I won't be spending now. He did well to cover the LSC and pushed to get the teams attention.

I quit buying it years ago. Since I was only interested in the LSC article, I'd drop by Barnes and read it at the bookstore.

They let go of another major contributor too in addition to Hogue. It’s kind of strange they have let go of some of their better talent at the same time they are taking on more sports and streaming platforms and putting them under the DCTF name. I was wondering why they suddenly took an interest in the high school baseball and softball playoffs.

The high school coverage kind of declined over the past years in my opinion. They give the 6A and 5A schools a lot of ink and it declines substantially from 4A on down. The rationale they use and I get it is because Texas had a high school boom over the last two decades which most of them are in 6A and 5A. But they could do better.

It could be because in Texas, there’s now all these divisions where you have 12 state champions. Who can keep up with all that nonsense?

I’ve never been a fan of the spilt division non sense and as of this recently finished academic year now included all team sports. Split divisions or not they would still have the same amount of teams to cover. It got rid of the final four State Tournament formats and the Championships were played in Austin or Round Rock and it made scheduling semi final match ups for schools that might be 200 to 300 miles from each other a task especially for baseball and softball when graduations are scheduled too.

I totally agree that its a farce.

Restructure 6A for the Dallas, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio Metro areas.

Restructure 5A for the next tier (Amarillo, Lubbock, Corpus Christi, El Paso, Midland/Odessa, etc.)

                  2A-4A alter as needed.

For the love of god go back to 2 teams a division for the playoffs.

                    I think 3 tiers. Like D1, D2, D3....and that's it. Other than 6A and 5A the rest are a joke and don't matter....like D2, D3, and NAIA college football....no one cares.
