I believe Fuller is done. He never came back right after his injury. Maybe more time, treatment, and rehab might help, but I'm thinking not. I sure wish him the best and hope a miracle happens for this great young man.

As far as QB's playing in the league, out of 673 NCAA football programs in America, about a dozen or so QBs get drafted or are signed as UDFA. Of those, about a handful will make a NFL roster.
Yeah, the vast majority of these guys skipping around from college to college are going to be washing cars or stocking at Dollar General in a few years, with nothing to show for their 4-5 years except bad knees. You aren't transferring to Ohio State your last year of eligibility and getting a degree from tOSU. Doesn't work that way. And you can blow through a couple hundy really fast.

This new system is completely broken, yet it will keep going until schools start tapping out.

    • About 3,000 FCS players went into the 2025 portal to land an FBS gig; 327 got on FBS rosters. Now if they were real college students and went into a field that had only 3K jobs NATIONALLY and only 10% even get those jobs, they would be encouraged to change majors or look at different career options. Instead, they're filled with false hope that everyone is making the NFL because Danny Woodhead of Chadron did 15 years ago ... oh wait, Woodhead did that out of D2.

The college presidents and the NCAA need to get a grip on this. There needs to be compensation. UW QB just signed a two-year 8M contract to play for the UW. He's decided he didn't want to do that and the media is saying he can go to whatever school he wants. He SIGNED A CONTRACT WRITTEN BY LAWYERS AND APPROVED BY LAWYERS OF BOTH SIDES. When in this world can you break these kinds of contracts because you "FEEL" like it?

The question is, what is Washington's real recourse? To have some millionaire playing on your team that hates you?

        • I interrupt this discussion for another portal announcement: Tristan Exline committed to Iowa State! D2 to Big 12 is pretty impressive. And this guy is good enough to at least be a rotational player, maybe even start.

And Iowa State should owe CWU at least $50K in compensation. You simply can't have this professional league without contracts, compensation, and salary caps. This is insane. So coaches get fired because their roster gets raided, but the school gets NO compensation?! It's the only professional league in the history of athletics without contracts.

Thanks, got it. UTPB gets the check.

I kinda wonder if programs like Ferris and Harding are getting raided like this as well...

Raided is a mischaracterization. It's the players who enter the portal and go shopping.

They probably are. Before last season Ferris lost 8 starters. No big deal for them, just retool and keep winning.

I'm sure that many of these kids have people in their ear telling them that they can definitely move up. I wouldn't be surprised if some are approached by schools and specifically told that their is interest in them transferring to those schools.

It works both ways and the kids arent stupid.

If they are QB of a 10-2 D2, FCS, etc. playoff team, then they know they can hop in the portal and likely get a better gig even if its slightly better.

Flip side if the QB struggled on a 2-9 D2, FCS, etc. football team and see the school announced that 4 star "stan the Man" is here to save the program, they are outta there as well to another place they can have a chance to start.

                          • One thing I'd like D2 fans to do is be more all-in on D2. What I mean by this is not cheering on every team moving to FCS and every player moving up, bankrupting the division. We had a guy a few years ago, some Fresno State dude, who basically wanted every team and every player to leave D2. When he advocated adding the University of Manitoba to the league, I knew he had gone too far.

Look at NAIA and D3 boards, there fans are all in on their respective divisions. I've really enjoyed D2 athletics, I think it's great. Let's support this division.

                              I watch a lot more D2 games than D1.

                                We need more of this.

I'm focusing more on D2 now that my favorite D1, Washington State, was left behind in Pac-12 implosion. Like other D1's, they change their roster more than their socks. I like the philosophy of my alma mater's football program, light on transfers, loyal to the guys on the roster. Senior Day was awesome (well, except for the last-second loss to CWU) where 25-30 guys were introduced before the game. Most of them had been at WOU 4 or 5 years, some six years because of Covid. Most if not all were graduating. It was great to see. I hope this continues. There's something to be said about staying put, building lifetime college memories, getting your degree, and playing for the love of the game and your school.
