One win from step one and two of the season goals for the Mavs!
A win secures at least a share of the South division title, and the NSIC conference championship. A lot of season remains though, keep it moving Mavericks!

At this point in the season it's possible to separate the NSIC into two groups of eight teams, where each team has played everyone in the opposite group and no one in their own. This makes it a good time to compare records, since everyone has played the exact same teams as everyone else in their group.

      GROUP 1

      Minnesota State (8-0)
      Sioux Falls (6-2)
      Bemidji State (5-3)
      MSU Moorhead (4-4)
      Minot State (3-5)
      St. Cloud State (3-5)
      Wayne State (3-5)
      Upper Iowa (2-6)

      GROUP 2

      Augustana (6-2)
      Winona State (6-2)
ConcordiaSouthwest Minnesota Statedoesn't play. As an example, for Minnesota State that would be the North teams in Group 1, whose record is 15-17.

      2. Add 39 to each number. In this case that comes out as 54-56.

      3. Swap the numbers. This makes it 56-54.

      4. Calculate the percentage, in this case .509.

This isn't the official NCAA SOS number, since it doesn't take into account opponents' opponents. But to do that in a closed system like this would be counterproductive. This system gives opponents' winning percentage.

      Group 1 North: .473
      Group 2 North: .464
      Group 1 South: .509
      Group 2 South: .555

So at the end of the season Augustana, Winona State, Concordia, and Southwest Minnesota State will be tied for the toughest schedule in the NSIC.
