It’s frustrating seeing the same crap over and over again.
Ahh, you are now seeing what I have been putting down 😀

This is a lame duck coaching staff at this point. High probability they are gone as soon as the season is over.

The issue is not the players. It’s the coaches. We have talent all over the field but they don’t know how to use it. Especially on offense.

I could go through a long list of what this coaching staff has done wrong but it be much simpler to ask what if anything have they done right? All the advantages of new facilities but doing no better than the previous staff.

3 good opponents, 3 blowout losses. Schmidt would have to win out to have any hope of coaching in Aberdeen in 2024.

Correct and that seems highly unlikely. We don’t have a bunch of Mary’s on the rest of the schedule. My guess is he will drop at least 2 more.

Win on Gypsy Days and beat Augie and that will buy them time, haha

Curious if this is just frustrated fan talk, or if Schmidt is really going to be shown the door if there is not a drastic turnaround the rest of the season?

From what I am hearing it is beyond frustration from the people whose opinion matters much more than mine. Haha

Northern has committed a lot of money, and hit people up for a lot of that money (and got it). So I’d understand frustration from fans/boosters/admins.

Considering the record for the Wolves has gotten better versus the previous regime..and they've beaten teams Winona, USF, and Mankato that they've lost handily to in the past..all within the last 2 years, I'm not sure that I'd see Coach Schmidt's job in trouble. The reality is there's been progress but you can't microwave a playoff squad from being a .500 club who previously beat just the lower teams..more or less. It's not like Coach took over a perennial 8-3 or playoff squad.

Don't get me wrong, I expected NSU to show better than they have this year (4 games in)..but I had them starting 1-3, honestly..but I did think they'd compete better in those games against top teams. The Wolves should be favored in their next 3 contests..and if they take care of their business, they'll be 4-3 going into the last stretch.

I would agree that realistic Wolves fans knew that 1-3 was a possible, maybe even likely start to the season. However, the manner in which those 3 losses have come is unacceptable. Not just the score, but some of the undisciplined play. NSU has beaten some teams in the past 3 years that we typically do not, that is also true. I always try to be on the more optimistic end of the spectrum, but I have heard real grumblings from people that would know. Remember, the current AD and President were not here when Schmidt was hired. I hope the Wolves turn it around and Coach Schmidt leads NSU to the playoffs in the future, but he's got some work to do

                      Agreed.

Also, when we got the win over Mankato virtualvirtually everyone on here had excuses or reasons of why Northern was able to do it. Besides that, those wins don't really matter when you can't beat Mary in those same seasons.

The discipline is probably the key part. It was kind of embarrassing last weekend and a few times in the past. I understand emotions, showmanship, whatever. But way too many times has it just been petty or immature behavior.

Of course you can't change things overnight, but it's been four years. And I don't want to hear about "covid year" because some teams worked hard to build over that year and some didn't. That gave the staff a lot of extra recruiting time and it showed.

I don't write the checks and I'm not even half the fan I used to be. When major promises are made and major investments made, people want a return on that.

I don't see how on earth the Wolves would be favored against Moorhead this Saturday

I was told by a local (not a big booster) that the money guys are just fine with mediocre seasons. Then recently I was told (by a player parent) that one of the money guys told them this is not acceptable. So I don’t know what to believe.

My gut tells me that the people with pull are ok with things as long as they are seeing improvement. But I just don’t think that is the case at the moment. I would argue we have gone backwards a bit so far this year.

Lots of donors so just depends on which one, of course.

I would agree. 7-4, 6-5 and this year still has time but doesn't feel very promising of even getting six wins.

Our best season in 20+ years happened under Dosch at 8-3, though the rest was mediocre.

Perhaps we have all put to much hype into our stars but I don't see how next year has a very good outlook when considering what will be graduating.

I tell you what. Now that I have gone to a few other stadiums I truly appreciate what Northern has. I mean some of these stadiums still have port o let’s and the players have to walk several blocks to get back to the locker rooms. My kids high school didn’t even have that. I am not ragging on those schools as I totally get it but man, at Northern everything is so nice, that locker room is right outside the stadium. It’s just a whole different level. Now they need a team that looks as good on the field as the facilities 😀
