Anyway, I recommend a trip through western Montana. I'd even like to find a way to make that a trip by itself. The mountains are beautiful.
I LOVE the Midwest. But I now see exactly why the rest of the country thinks we’re simple and boring. Haha

Haha yeah - I just did Brookings to Ames a few weeks ago (and then Ames-Mankato-Brookings on the way back) and it was... oofta. Not much to look at east of Sioux City. It was a fun trip though, I wanted to visit Iowa State for grad school purposes. Nice campus they have.

Had a hankerin' for Zanz so I took the long way home through Kato - which I do think is a really nice area in terms of the natural landscape.

tbh, if you treat it as part of the experience of the trip, it's a fun ride. If you treat it as purely an A-B mode of transportation, it's maybe not so great depending on how far you are going and where.

Of course they don't service SoDak so... it's car or plane for me.
It would be "well, at least I don't have to drive" other than to or from St. Paul, which is WAY better than driving all the way to Minot!!

          Exactly my thought process lol

Once you factor in gas, wear-and-tear, etc - the train doesn't sound so bad. IMO, there seems to be a sweet spot distance wise between car, train, and plane. Minot is definitely a train trip for me.

                  • If Jamestown joins....I'm guessing they drop men's soccer and men's volleyball? and drop the annual game vs valley city?

Massey has Jamestown ranked 72 out of 94 for NAIA. Another 400 mile trip.

Sounds like another Upper Iowa, might as well take all the NAIA schools in North Dakota. Has the conference ever reached out to the 4 other D2 schools in the current footprint of the conference?

There are no other D2 schools within the current footprint of the conference. Kearney is an additional 3 hours beyond Wayne, while Chadron is an extra 5.5 hours outside of the footprint. Rapid City/Spearfish would extend the footprint 5 hours past Sioux Falls....

This isn't the BIG where they poach schools on the West Coast. Driving a bus from Northern Minnesota to Chadron would take longer than a flight from Seattle to Rutgers or Maryland. I'd love to see the Black hills teams in the conference, but not so much love from WSU and UMD I'm sure.

It’s an hour longer than UMD to UIU! My point is stop taking institutions that have not committed resources to be successful at lower levels.

Assuming we want to stay at an even number, who else do we add? Morris? lol
