I'm guessing the 5 Dakota schools will vote "Yes" and likely "Yes" votes from Wayne State, Moorhead, and Crookston.
If we're figure on those schools voting yes, it's a done deal...as Stanger believes SMSU approves, I would imagine Bemidji agrees as well. Then it's just formality and the rest of the conference will approve unanimously to not ruffle feathers.

I wish the NSIC would grow a spine and force football to be required again. Kick out Crookston, and SCSU already.

      .....in football.

I know that this is a football forum first and foremost and it's the sport that drives most of the conversation, but let's not forget that moves like this need to consider far more than just football.

I wish the Jimmies website listed attendance figures, but that'd be my approximation. It's going to be on the low end, but not anything we haven't seen before.

BTW, Paint Bucket rivalry game is tonight in Valley City.
Go Vikings!!! Smash those Pumpkin heads!!

It’s not about comparing attendance of a NAIA team to NCAA D2 team.. the town is much bigger, and they generally support their Jimmie sports. If UJ builds a competitive D2 team, I think they will draw decent crowds despite NDSU being king there. Moorhead suffers the same problem, only to an even larger extent. I’ve been to games in Valley City and Jamestown, and when the teams are competitive, the fans come. I’ve also been to a game in Fayette. The tailgate scene there is amazing for that town, but the lack of local community there IMO really holds the environment back. Potential in Jamestown if they can recruit.

JImmies up 8-7 at halftime. Looking decent against 2nd best team in the North Star

I thought it was interesting to hear Dom Izzo out of Fargo say adding Jamestown would negatively affect MSUM's recruiting.

The sports they are best at are the ones the NSIC doesn't have, besides womens soccer, but thats just based on record, not skill level. Their hoops are good at their level but while we celebrate the run they had in men's hoops, that player/team isn't together anymore.

Crookston was bottom of the NSIC overall but usually had one, maybe two sports that would occasionally finish outside the basement.

It's not hard to see that it will be similar for Jamestown. That doesn't mean they can't eventually improve things, but, in my opinion, it's going to be a rough start.

Edit: I completely left out womens volleyball, however they don't seem to ever play any D2s so tough to compare to what is probably our conferences deepest sport.

                100% it would.

I'd like to see the Jamestown Jimmies play the St. Thomas Tommies. 😁

Pretty solid football game. Watching the Viking YouTube stream.

20-15 VCSU wins. Jimmies looked better than I expected. Vikings were about 6 or 7 points favorites via Massey.

It was 23-15, so the Vikings covered. https://vcsuvikings.com/sports/footb.../boxscore/5020

Nice start to the season by Massey, much to the chagrin of some, haha

Watched the game last night. The broadcast came through very well for me. Might go to the Briar Cliff at Waldorf game tomorrow night.

Which feed did you watch? the Viking YouTube feed, or the Jimmie BEK TV feed? I think the BEK broadcast was better, but I couldn't figure out a way to cast it from my iPhone to my Android TV so I was stuck watching the Viking Youtube Feed.

I don't get all the Massey hate.. Is it the be all end all?? obviously not, but what you can't say is that it's biased unlike most of our opinions. It's all data driven. Massey had it at 6.5. My guess would not have been that close, but I'm human. After the Vikings squandered a chance in the 2nd half to kind of blow the game wide open, Jamestown responded, and had the ball with a chance to tie the game and just couldn't execute due in large part to the pressure of that Viking defensive front. I'm not sure how good Massey ratings are this early in the year, and where there is siloed scheduling they become difficult to be accurate, on top of the fact that the out of conference games happen early in the season and aren't always accurate as teams change over the course of the season due to injuries and adjustments.

I know one thing... watching a NAIA game from back home got me a whole lot more jacked for college football than I thought it would!! Dad was a VCSU grad, and I grew up in Barnes County, played a lot of basketball and ran some track on that campus in HS, and was to more than a couple football games there. First college football game I ever attended was at VCSU. Brings back some memories! Back then, that was quite the rivalry game, often a homecoming game, and VCSU students would take pumpkins and smash them on the road around both towns to mock the Jimmies. The conference changes certainly took something out of that rivalry, and if UJ goes D2 would pretty much end it I'm sure. Me, I hope even if the NSIC gets to an even number of teams that they leave week 1 for non conference, though I know that certaonly presents challenges too as many conferences like the GLIAC have many more weeks to fill than just week 1.
