Played in a few games in 2022 for the Gophers. Not sure he saw much action in 2023. Maybe due to injury or depth chart not sure.Last edited by Umdfan35; 12-13-2023, 03:36 PM.

There seems to be a lot of assumptions that when a player enters the portal, they are automatically looking for a D1 team to join…then the piling on about it. As fans, we clearly feel a little hurt (in the general sense of the term) when a player chooses to leave our team/school, because of our emotional connection to said school. There are SO MANY reasons for wanting to transfer, other than just chasing a D1 dream. Personally, and I know I’m an idiot..ha, I transferred because of my then girlfriend. Some kids want to play. Some were lied to by the coaches. Some want to win more than 1-3 games per year. Some want to get out of the climate. Some have family reasons. Some do it for academic reasons…on and on. And certainly, some are chasing the dream. And others just want that recruiting attention again!
College coaches are now more like ‘real world’ managers than ever before. You can put a ton of time and resources into finding a candidate to fill your open position (recruiting), and then developing them (training, etc) only to see them leave for another job. Scholarships are year to year contracts.

P.S. You are not an idiot unless you don't learn from it. If what you did makes you an idiot, there are a lot of us on this board who are your brethren idiots

But that being said, it's not worth getting upset over. In fact, I've offered public support on social media for a couple of the exiting players (which they've seen) and I do intend to follow a couple of them after departing. Love my school, love the sport - but it's life, and frankly, it's just football.

I should ask - is this thread for all portal movement or just incoming? I don't want to clog it with my outbound info.
