  • Too Early SR4 Regional Discussion

We are closing in on the halfway point of the season. I am looking at records and a certain eye test. Too busy to crunch SOS numbers I will leave that to Inkblot .

Top 4 teams in my opinion:

    1) Minnesota State (5-0): Big non conference win at Northwest Missouri State and have beaten 2 of the 3 contenders for the NSIC title (Bemidji, Wayne St.).
    2) Colorado Mines (4-0): Shaky 4-0 but they are the team to beat in the RMAC until proven otherwise.
    3) Central Washington (3-0): Tougher part of the LSC schedule toward the middle/end of conference play.
    4) Western Colorado (4-0): Lets see what they have against Pueblo and Mines.

    Top 1 loss teams:
    1) Colorado State-Pueblo (4-1) : Home win against UTPB, close loss to Grand Valley at home.
    2) Bemidji State (4-1)
    3) Wayne State (4-1)
    4) Texas A&M-Kingsville (3-1): Win at UTPB on road.

    Honorable Mention 2 loss team:
    1) Angelo State (2-2): Close losses to Top half of MIAA teams Ft. Hays St. and Emporia St.

Just opinions and lots can change. What are you thoughts?

I didn't see that you had this one until after I commented on the other thread.

Augie has lost to FCS champ South Dakota State and to Moorhead.
UMD lost on a game ender to Moorhead. Also has a favorable schedule.

UMD belongs on the list. The Moorhead loss was definitely on poor clock management and poor special teams and a game they should have won. I think on Saturday we will all see if UMD is a serious contender or just a bully that can beat up on the weaker teams.

Its early but the LSC looks god awful.

They may only get one team in and that team will have to travel in the playoffs if Central Washington doesnt run the table.

I think its going to be the top 3 RMAC teams if they avoid an upset (Mines, Pueblo, and Western Colorado), then your top 3 NSIC teams left standing as long as the third place team doesnt have 3 losses.

Not yet they don’t. As mentioned, their wins are against a combined 1-10 teams. And the committee won’t give a sh!t about how they lost the Moorhead game. The fact is, they lost it.

They can play their way onto the list and into the playoffs, for sure. But they wouldn’t be there now.

Certainly a take. Dragon's final 77 yd TD drive and converted 2 pt conversion may have also had something to do with that loss. You are right though committee should just disregard that and view as a win.

If Bemidji walks away with two losses, I think they earned the right to host. Duluth’s schedule is very easy.
Thats true with the LSC and think that is the only way. TAMUK has the bad home loss to Mesa so no room for error.

To me Saturday is close to a playoff eliminator, since two losses is usually where it gets dicey on the 5-6-7 line. The KO should be a scene considering it's also Augie's homecoming.

If the committee did count this as a win, it would open a can of worms that would never be closed. Ain't gonna happen. It has always been a win is a win and a loss is a loss..

And the reason Mankato isn't 5-0 is because NWMSU is SR3 I'm assuming?

Six teams with one conference loss. Won't take to long to sort things out. The big question is, will the Mavs make it through the gauntlet unscathed?

i could definitely see the Mavs running the table, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they stumbled in one either. One of Moorehead, Augustana, and Duluth would be the best bet, if a loss is out there for them. If I was forced to pick a side, I’d say they do not lose in the regular season

Speaking for the NSIC I think they could get 4 teams in if Central Washington runs the table, the third place RMAC team suffers an upset loss (most likely Western Colorado), and the NSIC fourth place team just has 2 losses.

LSC options are limited unless Kingsville, ASU, or UTPB wins out and Central Washington only suffers one D2 loss.
