That was ugly! Tampa's starter, Linder, was much better today than when he started on Saturday. He pitched 6 innings allowing only 4 hits and 1 run (and that scored on a wild pitch). The closer, Jordan Leasure, picked up the win with 2 innings of scoreless relief. The Mules had only 5 hits today after 25 in the first two games.

Conor Dryer pitched the first 5 innings for the Mules allowing no runs and 3 hits. He was removed from the game before his 3rd time through the lineup. The 5 relievers that followed allowed 8 runs and 10 hits.

I agree about Dryer cruising along through five innings and then you pull him because it's the third time through the order, so what. As they say, if it isn't broken don't fix it. A clear case of the Mules coach trying to do the trendy thing and he ends up out thinking himself. I'm pretty sure Tampa was happy to see Dryer out of the game.. After that, the Mules got punched in the mouth and got rattled and then sloppy. A wake up call for the Mules in my opinion. The Mules bats need to come alive, too many pop-ups, especially Dusty...what's happened to him....he looks lost at the plate.

Today, we find out if the mules can live up to all the hype of recent weeks....put up or shut up. Time to put a smack down on Tampa and then put Wingate in their rightful place.

Mules win 3-1. Mason Green threw 7 innings allowing 1 unearned run, striking out 7. Chase Plymell had a scoreless 8th, striking out 2. And Evan Rathburn saved the game retiring all 3 batters he faced with a strikeout to end it.

Garrett Pennington has an RBI double, Alex Madera an RBI triple and Erik Webb hit his 4th HR of the championships.

Braydon Nelson was great in relief for Tampa allowing only Webb's HR in 6-1/3 innings of relief. He came into the championships with a good record of 4-1, but had a 6.95 ERA, 1.84 WHIP and opponents were hitting .319 against him.

Mules need to clean up the sloppy infield play, stop getting caught leaning at first base and make a couple of changes to the batting order.. Move Dusty to the ninth spot (it got Alex motivated) and change the DH.

Mules in the top of the first strand the bases loaded as Evans fouls off two pitches and then freezes for strike three.....choke. Hey dumb ass, if it's close, swing the bat...at least go down swinging on a 0-2 pitch....geez.

Mules continue to hit mostly infield pop-ups with Dusty leading the parade. Dusty has been totally worthless at the plate this week...he's a wasted out every time up..
