Getting real close now.

They have a pretty good lineup for that opening weekend. WVW and Concord both have some nice players. Concord's coach acted up here a bit last year and got hammered by the crowd. I suspect IUP to win both games but should get tested.

It's a nice weekend. Two basketball home games and a football game.

The ladies are also home both days. Logistical nightmare.

Not a huge fan of the new uniforms.

I kinda like them. But I agree with IUP CH about black not being a color. That's just what everybody does now. Make black the primary color for everything.

Same here. I saw the team photo and just assumed that they must be their practice duds. Why do IUP hoops teams wear black when that is NOT one of our school colors?

I offered the idea several years back of creating some variation of what the Atlanta Hawks wore back in the Dominique Wilkins era. Those were some fine uniforms there.

Slippery Rock??? Wow.

Pretty interesting for sure.

They'll win a lot of games this year but I don't see any postseason activity beyond the PSAC Tournament.

Looking at the roster they have (6) freshmen which means some will have to play. They will have a pretty solid rotation -- strong at the guard position. Amante Britt and Jared Armstrong are very good players. Nik Cazacu is a rising player. If healthy we all know Till can carry them (when they can control the tempo). Depth under the basket isn't real deep.

It's definitely a different look SRU team entering Grady's first full (official) season.

Looks like IUP has its first injury of the season. Freshmen guard Bryce Radford has a cast on his foot. While he was going to redshirt regardless, hopefully he gets back in time to get several months of practice time under his belt.

Former Fairmont State player Shammgod Wells has been named an assistant coach under Joe Lombardi.

Glad to hear it was a good trip. Tough part is figuring the competition level. Same with Pitt's trip to Italy. They did well there, but you just never know what they are going up against. That said, I recall reading of those squads they played beat Illinois or Indiana. Somebody like that.

The only negative to IUP's trip was that they were so short-handed -- in particular two of the new post players not making the trip. But, they did get 10 practices in prior to going up to Canada and that was probably the most valuable part of this whole thing.

Debo and Ousmane aren't injured and are on campus (and practiced). Sounds like it was just a glitch with international travel. Debo is a Day 1 starter. He can ball. I see Ousmane being a defensive specialist and dominating on the glass this year. He'll partake in that offense/defense sub rotation a lot. We haven't had a big guy like him in a while down there.

Tell you what, ... I know Joe likes his 'four guard' rotation. But, Anthony White keeps getting better every year. I don't know what they do with him. He may be forcing Joe's hand to play more guys. I think he'd start this year at more than half of the schools in the PSAC.

I know the one day they played twice. Could be Malik just played in one of them. Who knows. Sounds like a good weekend trip.

Actually, Malik never dressed. Not sure why but that is factual.
