He signed a LOI with WJU in November so it is up to WJU weather they want to release him or not. Of course, as an incoming freshman, he may not even realize he has to ask for a release. But then again, he could be looking at the roster and realizing that he has a GREAT chance at stepping into a starting PG slot...all be it for probably a bad team...while if he truly "stands with danny" and goes to Cal, pretty good chance he will be sitting on the bench...on probably a bad team. OR...REALLY roll the dice and reopen his recruiting. Buuuuttttt...Late in recruiting season cuts both ways...Not a lot of good players available but schools don't have a lot of scholarship $ to give either.

Probable starter on a bad team...bench player on a bad team...try and find a good program with scholly $ to give. Those are his options.

VC is listing the following as verbally committed to WJU:

Franck Kamgain, 6'3", 185, PG/SG, KC Center HS MO via DMG Academy. Kamgain was a first team All-Missouri select coming out of HS who had some mid level D1 interest.

      His HS tape: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/5052403...e0b50bf8b504df

For those keeping track, WJU's recruiting class so far looks like:

DeAndre Robinson, 6'5", 200 pound swing from Monroe HS AL via the Combine Academy
Stephen Cannady, 5'11", 180, PG from St Vincent Palloti HS MD
Franck Kamgain, 6'3", 185, PG/SG, KC Center HS MO via DMG Academy

Certainly that doesn't begin to replace the losses, but these are pretty solid players...particularly this late in the recruiting season. Baring a super late addition, looks like WJU is going to role with 12. And given the players, I'd pencil in the three above as starters.

Former Sancomb signee Carlos Carter (Indiana High School) was given his release.

Rumor is he has signed with Shippensburg.

WJ's roster has been updated. To say Coach Peckenpaugh has been active would be an understatement!! TWENTY SIX players listed! Looks like the "concerns" some expressed here about WJU having ONLY guards on the roster were a bit premature. Coach Peck is showing SEVEN FOOT transfer Jeremiah April on the roster. WJU lists him as "from" Joy Christian HS in Phoenix. That is true, but they left out that April played for Indiana before transferring Wahbash Valley CC last year. From his tape he looks like he can move pretty good for such a big man.

FYI...Cannady is listed as are 16 other freshmen!

Roster includes players from 15 different states! Sancombs last WJU roster included players from 6 states. Some were probably wondering what Coach Peck was doing...turns out, quite a lot!!

April left Indiana after frosh year in spring 2015. Was not on wabash valley roster last season so he must have sat out last year to be only a jr. At 7-0 and 250 we will see how much he likes to run against Wlu. Lol

I saw a little tape on him and he looks like a pretty active 7 footer. WLU will severely test his stamina but then, that is true of every position and player who plays them!

Just looking at who Peckenpaugh brought it and there are a few quality pieces. Maybe not the kind you go, "OH MAN, he's GOOD!!" type but solid players who do what they do well. Obviously Robinson, Cannady and Kamgain (and now April) fall into that category but also a Bryce Foggin from Florida. Like Robinson and Kamgain, he took a year after HS and put on 15 pounds at Monrovian Prep NC.

Not saying they will be the starting five but it's not a bad crew with a former D1 7 footer at Center, two 6'6" former preper's at Forwards, and a back court made up of either a 6'3" preper from Europe (Kamgain), a JUCO All-American (Rodriguez) or a true Freshman All-Met performer (Cannady).

They also have returning soph Brendan Hoban. Hoban is a good, athletic 2-guard that shoots it very well. He just struggled at times defensively and with his confidence offensively. Normal for most freshman...he also played the 3 a few times but the 2 and 3 were manned by Boswell and Moseh and they both played 35plus minutes a game.

I don't really follow WJU except during WLU week so you could be 100% right about Hoban.

I think WJU struggles this year but they probably would have struggled a bit with the departures of Moesh, Highsmith and Boswell anyway. WJU is largely a brand new team but your new HC did get some interesting players. Much will depend on how they jell but I don't see them as totally bad. Probably around 500 with a team that is basically young as grass. Solid foundation to build on.

Speaking as a WLU fan, I want WJU to be good again...no fun beating a bad team even if they are your local rival!!!
