I would agree with you that MSU has location, large university and a new FB stadium away from looking like a D1 school. Would the twin city dominated political force allow it to happen? I highly doubt it. Notice in NE. that Creighton and UNO have no D1 FB, state unicameral legislatures would never allow any form of competition taking resources from big red.

If Kato would ever go D1. I am saying they do it and football would be dropped. Agree no way they would allow another D1 so close to the flagship school for the state.

Funny, since I believe Augie out-draws nearly every school in the Summit League. And attendance would only go up with games against SDSU, USD, etc. on the schedule.

On KWSN yesterday, our AD made it sound like it would probably be a pretty heavy financial burden right now anyway, so I doubt anything will come of it in the near future.

Augustana easily out draws USD in BB and nips at SDSU heals, if AU were to go D1 there would be more then decent chance Augie would lead the league in BB attendance. 10-15 years ago Augie talked about adding D1 hockey, I think it would be successful especially if beer was available!

Apologize that I missed this post earlier. You would have to be blind to have missed the Mustang army at the Pentagon, lots of them and loud. Marshall is to close to SF and had a built in advantage!

I encourage you to look up the first two teams SMSU played at the 'gon, and then we can talk about built-in advantages lol.

BTW, I was wearing my Northern State Football t-shirt the other day. Got the nod of approval from a half dozen construction workers coming out of the cafe in Buffalo Lake as I was going in.

We have a bigger base than anyone would guess. Love hearing that. I get comments on my license plates all the time. Glad to know you are prepared if MSU ever makes the move and loses football.

10-15 years ago Augie talked about adding D1 hockey, I think it would be successful especially if beer was available!

More talk today (almost daily, Zimmer coming on soon to talk) about Augie. They noted Augustana has some notable programs that could compete sooner than later with a d1 move like their football and women's basketball...

Clearly, not much research done here...haha. I dont mean that as a slight, but I'd say mens basketball, both cross country...

I could name at least fifty D1 schools who shouldn't be at that level. I bet that Augie- and even several other NSIC schools- would have better programs that places like High Point or Presbyterian.

Right, and I think the assumption is there would not be football if they went d1. If so, that's be the reason for the "we need to double our budget" comment.
