As many games as the Dragons have lost and won at the Pentagon it should feel like an extended home away from home.

UMD had won 7 of 8 before Wednesday night, the loss was by one to Moorhead.

Congrats to Coach Billeter. Saw on social media that some of his former Augie players went down to Emporia to see him get win #500. Cool thing for them to do.

As far as the current Vikings coaches and players go, that was a fun win over Duluth. It’s never a bad day to beat that crew.

Forgive me for getting out of character and being a little more optimistic than usual, but other than the first matchup with Winona, there’s really no team left in this tournament that has straight up handled the Vikings this season. Not saying we’re likely to win the whole thing, but it’s not exactly 100% hopeless either. Would love to see Coach Schilling pull off a miracle like winning the conference tourney in year 1.

Augieholic and Mark Emmert’s Burner probably have 48 very insightful and sound reasons why Augie is a long shot, but that’s why it’s nice to only sort of understand basketball—I can just keep my hopes up.

Should be fun to see if the Vikes can put it together for a few more games.

This is a pretty important game tonight. Would love to see the boys get this one back after dropping the game at USF earlier in the year. The Vikes have shown they can hang with and/or beat the teams at the top of the conference standings (really, we’ve had very few big losses this year as far as point differentials go), so I’d love to see some magic happen in the NSIC Tourney knowing they can compete with the big dogs if they play at a high level. But that means breaking this 3-game skid and getting a few more wins before the end of the year to make sure we get in the tourney. Not that I’m super concerned about Crookston/Mary/Northern catching up, but I’ll feel better when the bracket is finalized and Augie’s officially in.

Their fans are too, unfortunately. Really hate that his attitude has trickled down so much.

    3-4 on 2ptFG

Akoi breaking out of his offensive and foul induced funk was going to happen eventually but I'm especially glad it happened last night in Marshall. He controlled the action offensively and did another amazing job on Felon Stevens. However this will always be the Jack Hastreiter game.

In the last four games before last night Jack had one DNP and three nights where he played, 9, 4, and 1 minute. I'm sure he was on the SMSU scout but definitely at the bottom of the page with only a bullet point or two about not letting him catch and shoot. Jack proceeded to catch and shoot like the RA was a glue factory. The amount of focus it takes to pull that off while not playing consistent minutes all season is undeniably impressive.

Fun to keep seeing the pieces come together for Coach Schilling. A 6-game streak seemed unlikely a few weeks ago, but here we are. Excited to see what happens against the Beavers.
