NWMSU Bearcats 2019-2020

1st game to see NW this season yesterday. 1st impression is that they will not win the MIAA. Hudgins is a phenomenal ball handler, shoots the ball well but needs to go to hoop with right hand. NW goes as he goes. NW is Hawkins, Hudgins and Bernard. Bernard is a very good defender and very good on boards. He needs to be more aggressive or more involved in offense. He's good ball handler and can take defenders to the hoop because of his speed and leaping ability. Walters freaks out sometimes when he gets the ball. It appears that speed of collegiate basketball is bothersome to him. NW has no rim defender.

MW is Carroll and Millholin. Millholin is just one of those kids you love to hate. Plays hard but his court attitude just irritates the heck out of you. Carroll is very comparable to Hudgins as ball handler but better going to hoop. 2nd half MW went to a 2-man game with Carroll and a high pick. Should've stuck to it the entire half. NW had no answer with Bernard switching to big man. Carroll ate us up in the 2nd half and kept MW in the game.

NW men 73-WU 68. Hawk had 32 and Waters had 14 in his 2nd start. NW overcame a 4 pt deficit with about 5 minutes left

We need him back, but Welty getting hurt may have actually been a benefit for the depth of this team. Waters has stepped up and played well. He looks way more comfortable than he did early, he's more aggressive and looks to be a solid piece going forward for Mac.

NW men 71 ESU 56...Hutch pretty much took over the game in the 2nd half. So far 76 minutes without Welty & 2-0.

With Welty going out, we probably got a look at next years starters, for most of the game.

2 freshmen, 2 sophomores, and 1 junior on the court for the vast majority of the 2nd half. Impressive performance from NW. Hopefully the extra playing time for Waters and Dreamer, if Welty misses a few games, will pay dividends towards the end of the year.

NW 101 Simpson College 66. NW was only up 8 early in 2nd half but steadily pulled away. Next up NEOSU Sat and Rogers St Monday both in Maryville

NW beat Truman St in Maryville 81-66. NW was up about 25 pts when they started subbing deeper. Tough, physical game...good warmup for upcoming MIAA games

Think he had 28 in the first 16 minutes and had to sit the rest of the first half with 3 fouls. Didn't watch much of the 2nd half...game was well in hand.
