And as expected, KWC is at #4. Enough with the paranoia now, Panthers!

Well, I'll be damned. I guess my level of cynicism about the ranking process has finally gone beyond the reality of the process. Good to know!

I'm not paranoid, I'm just not sure why everyone's out to get me...

Only difference between this and the PI is that Quincy is slightly higher in the PI. My "Average" column had the last 4 switched, but all three of Massey, PI, and my "average" nailed the 10 teams down.

Looking at the numbers supplied by the NCAA for 5 of the categories considered, it looks like spots 5-8 are only a sliver apart (Findlay, UWP, QU, TSU). QU even technically has better SOS, PI, and region RPI numbers than Findlay, so my guess is that UF, WP, and QU (and maybe TSU) were all considered as a group to separate out those teams in order.

I'm going back thru my sheet now to make corrections. It looks like Auburn Montgomery and Purdue Northwest (Purdue Calumet) counted in their numbers. May be some others as well.

For tonight's games, here are the Massey predicted point spreads:

                  1) Bellarmine vs. McKendree (BU -31.5)
                  2) Southern Indiana vs. Illinois Springfield (USI -23.5)
                  3) Ferris State vs. Northern Michigan (FS -14.5)
                  4) Kentucky Wesleyan vs. Cedarville (KWC -18.5)
                  5) Findlay vs. Tiffin (UF -11.5)
                  6) UW-Parkside at Saint Joseph's (UWP -12.5)
                  7) Quincy vs. Rockhurst (QU -8.5)
                  8) Truman vs. William Jewell (TSU -15.5)

                  9) Wayne State at Northwood (WSU -11.5)
                  10) Lake Superior vs. Saginaw Valley (LSS -7.5)

Others that would appear "close" to the top-10:
-) Ashland vs. Walsh (AU -4.5)
-) Lewis at Indianapolis (UIndy -5.5)
-) Michigan Tech at Grand Valley (GV -0.5)

                    Re: 2017 Regional Rankings

Looks like a pretty easy night for the top 8. Lewis @Indy looks like the best game involving two teams with a chance to get ranked. Actually think that Indy will win it handily though. Also, think Wayne will have some trouble with Northwood. Just don't think Wayne will stay ranked.

I would expect the Quincy v. Rockhurst game to be close.

The Parkside @ Saint Joseph's game could be interesting as well, as SJC always seems to be a tricky place to play on the road. And, I feel like (no scientific proof behind this) SJC always gets one big home win each year, and they haven't gotten that yet in 2016-17.

I'll have my eye on Rockhurst at Quincy too. QU has been playing good, but not "great", lately, and it was a 7-point game in Kansas City back in December. RU was within one possession with just a couple of minutes left in that one as well.

                          Re: 2017 Regional Rankings

I like Rockhurst and have a lot of respect for their coach but they have not done particularly well on the road this season. They have two road wins, S&T and St. Joe's. Not exactly stellar wins there. I may be wrong as Quincy does have a tendency to play down to the level of their competition but I think Quincy will win easily.

St. Joe's is harder to decipher. Will the team pick it up with the announcement of the school closing or will they throw their hands up and just do some selfish showcasing to audition for a new school? Can't really tell.

That's a great point -- they do have a great home-court advantage and play well there. If you've never been to their gym, think "Hoosiers." (and no, not the Hinkle scene :)).

The only thing I think gives RU a little road life this year is that they only lost by nine at Bellarmine, by two at Drury, and by nine at UIndy, so they've at least shown they can hang with some of the other upper-echelon teams.
