D&E is up 20 with five to go. It will be them tomorrow in the semis. I am not surprised. At worst, a team from WV will be in the finals. D&E didn't play their main cogs many minutes.

I am watching the G-MAC and MEC tourneys when I have a break in work. I don't know which is worse attended. If it wasn't for the players for schools that have upcoming games sitting in the stands, I don't know if there would be 25 people in either venue. And why is our conference playing semis in the morning/early afternoon??? I don't get why the conference is doing that. Very few people get to watch on a workday afternoon. If this conference is ever going to develop, then you have to play your semis at night.

Women are hanging in there with Cedarville. Down 32-31 at the half.

Parker was on fire the 1st half and has 17 points. Better production out of Yasmin Norman. We need Lorin and Nikatina to start hitting shots this half.

Good effort. That 7-0 run by Cedarville at the end of the 3rd quarter was the difference it seemed. Took the lead from 39-38 to 46-38.

Stephen Dye and his Glenville team handled UVA Wise pretty well. They get West Liberty tomorrow at noon.

So just hypothetically speaking....if we are to pull off the upset tomorrow, what would KWCs seed be in the tournament?

Me personally I think the regional rankings are a joke. You all were ranked #8 in the country last year yet you were the 8 seed. You are #7 right now and with a loss would only have 3 losses....if they left you out then something is wrong

Most likely we would be out. I want to win but anything can happen in a basketball game and you guys play hard. How could you keep Wesleyan out with a loss? We are blue blood college division and ranked 7th. The hypocrisy would drip from the committees ink.

I know today was a tough loss but it was a very hard fought game. You guys played hard and had good quality players.

                        • Re: Alderson Broaddus Basketball

I took some time this weekend while watching a few of the games to analyze what has left, what we have returning, what we are already bringing in and what/who we have offered:

What We Lose from This Year's Squad

After the 2015-16, we lost 80% of our scoring and three 1000-point scorers. We lost a four-year starter at point guard. We recruited a high school kid who blew his knee out. This year we lose 34% of our scoring and all seniors are replaceable. What we lose:

Dorrell Foster: 10.7 ppg and 5.4 rpg. An up-and-down performer. He wasn't consistent night-in and night-out. He could have good games and then have games where he disappeared. Good production when he was on. A liability on this team when he was off.

Jordan Haywood: 8.6 ppg and 3.2 rpg. Our best senior IMO. Great character and worked hard on defense. He made some incredible 3's in that first overtime against Davis & Elkins. Not big and didn't elevate on his shot. But he gave it his all.

Sanar Shamdeen: 4.3 ppg and 2 apg.

Manny Artinano: 2.3 ppg and 2.7 rpg.

What Returns for Next Season and I put their Class for Next Season by Their Name

Malik Bocook (So): 16 ppg and 10 rpg. Our best freshman in the program since Terrell Eargle came here and led us to 4 NCAA tournaments. He had several double-doubles despite opposing teams having their best defender guard him. If you get Mike Davis playing opposite him next year, then look out.

Exzavier Cooper (Jr): 11 ppg and 5 rpg. Great athlete. Finally learned at the last part of the season when and when not to shoot his outside jumper. Hustles hard and can jump. Needs more consistency game-in and game-out as far as production is concerned. Does bring high energy for the most part. Had some great games.

Sam Sanders (Sr): 10 ppg and 31 total steals. Tough defender and a guy willing to take a tough shot at the end. He really came on at the end of the season when he had figured out the system after transferring in from JUCO. He scored in double figures in 6 of the last 7 games of the season. He had to shift around during the season from point guard to two guard. He is a true combo guard that can play both positions. I think he could even be better next season.

Mike Mitchell (Sr): 8 ppg / 5.2 rpg. Another JUCO that came on towards the end of the season. He scored in double figures also in 6 of his last 7 games. He also had two double-doubles in that stretch and one game where he scored 21 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Brings energy and height. He read the defense very well late in the year and knows where to go to find the open lane for a pass. He understands the system now, but seemed for some reason to reside in the doghouse at times.

Chavez Harper (Sr): 6.7 ppg and 5.8 rpg. Good rebounder and can bring energy. I think that is going to have to be his role next year.....rebound and defend when coming off the bench. He can score at times, but when he is off, he is off. Good character and works hard.

Reggie Robinson (So): 3.1 ppg. Too many turnovers for most of the season. I never liked his body language. It was a real turn-off to me. He seemed to mature on the court at the end of the season and brought some good stuff. He is a heck of a on-the-ball defender to his credit. A good athlete. Zimmerman seems to like him. He sees more of him than I do so I go with his knowledge. He does have potential, but he came across to me as having a superstar mentality.

Guys that were Injured for the Year

Ja'Darien Wade (SO): an athletic and versatile 6'3" player who had great numbers in high school (the same school that produced two good players for West Lib). He has had bad breaks for two seasons. He could really help next year if healthy. He can shoot, run the floor and get up on the offensive/defensive glass.

Kevin Simmons (FR): another athletic 6'3" player who was painted as the next point guard. How well he comes off the knee injury will help a lot of our season for next year. He is built incredibly long and looks like he can really defend three to four positions. His progress so far looks good and he can go off the injured leg. He reminds me so much of Terrell Eargle, probably an unfair comparison, but he is built and plays just like him.

                          What Sat Out

Mike Davis (Jr): former JUCO All-American at Lakeland CC, a juco that has been real good to us in the past. He averaged 21 ppg his sophomore year at Lakeland. A good defender. He played for a great high school program in Cleveland in Garfield Heights. He played in 29 games as a freshman at Northern Illinois with 4 starts. I talked to him after the home D&E win. He was the most animated person in the student section during that game. He is up there and working out with Simmons.

Ohndo Smith (SR): played one semester as a junior. Big as hell. He appears to have trouble with grades. He could bring the big body we lacked this season. He showed potential two seasons ago in the games I saw. He sat out this season but was at every practice.

Patrick Kennedy (FR): a long 6'5" freshman who was a 1st-team 4A player in the Seattle, Washington area. He can shoot the mid-range or take it to the glass. He had some monster games as a senior in high school. A lot of double-doubles. His girlfriend came from Seattle to AB and is a very good women's soccer player. Redshirted but has been up there both semesters. He could really help.

Jonah Crosby (FR): didn't go anywhere for a year after graduating high school. Sat out this year at AB. He is a bit of a wildcard. He was listed all season on the roster. He is a versatile player and an awesome defender. I don't know much about him at the current moment. I did see him play on a couple of occasions in high school. Good potential.

                          Others

Artice Jackson (Sr): has played on semester due to eligibility. He will be a senior. Can jump out of the gym and has a nice outside shot. He has to figure things out if he wants to play. Not counting on it. He has been up at AB for two years now. If he could get it together this off-season and keep his head in the books, he can help depth-wise.

Simun Kovac (So): a big body who played in clean up. Decent outside shot. Not much athleticism. A body.

Who We Have Offered that I Know

Dre Murphy: a 1st-team all-state player at Huntington St. Joseph's. He averaged 27.4 ppg and 6.6 rpg. He has great game. He has been offered by a lot of schools including Radford. He also has an offer from Fairmont State, although that might not mean as much with Calhoun leaving. He would be a real tough get, but we were the first to offer. He is a versatile 6'3" wing player that can play two positions at this level.

Aaron McDonald: played two years at Harford Junior College on a very successful team. He averaged 12.4 ppg. We offered early last spring. He has had other offers come in since. He is a versatile 6'3" wing player. He would fit our system.

Micah Till: played on year at Harford JC after transferring from NC State. He averaged 16.3 ppg and 8.2 rpg. A big body who played TE at NC State. He goes 6'6" and 245. He also has offers from Bowie State, Virginia Union, Slippery Rock and West Chester. He had huge games at the end of the season. In the JUCO Regional Final win he had 18 points and 18 boards. In the semis, he had 24 points and 9 boards. He will be a hard get, but is a player. He and McDonald are playing in the JUCO all-star game tomorrow night in Baltimore. He was a 1st-team All MD Juco performer.

Lony Francis: A 6'6" / 225 pound big body out of Groveport, OH. He would be a nice get. He averaged 18.2 ppg and has loads of potential at this level. He has also been offered by Vincennes JC and Sinclair JC.

Isaiah Francis: a combo guard out of Beckley Woodrow Wilson. He has been offered by Wheeling and Concord. He averaged 17 ppg and was named 2nd-team WV AAA all-state. A good player who we got on early. He has visited the school.

I am sure there are others, but these are the offers that I know of.

It is also hard to project who will start next season as I don't know who we will land this off-season. I would love to land two of the three freshmen listed but that may be a pipe dream.

                          Depth would look like this:

Point Guard: Kevin Simmons, Reggie Robinson and Sam Sanders (who can run this spot or play the two)

Two Guard: Mike Davis, Sam Sanders, Ja'Darien Wade (can play this spot)

Small Forward: Malik Bocook, Ja'Darien Wade, Patrick Kennedy (could play 3 or 4), Artice Jackson

Power Forward: Exzavier Cooper, Chavez Harper, Patrick Kennedy, Simun Kovac, Mike Mitchell (can slide here or play the 5)

                          Center: Ohndo Smith, Mike Mitchell

I would think the staff wants a big that can play both the four or five. I think that is where Lony Francis and Micah Till are big prospects. If we don't land them, I am sure there are others they are waiting to pull an offer too.

Kids staying eligible, which has become a problem for the first time under Zimmerman, is going to be a real key. This crap slows down the team and hurts the team. Malik not being able to play the first semester really hurt our record. We were 1-7 without him and 15-7 with him.

The highlights of last season were the 3 wins over Davis & Elkins....all incredible efforts. The lowest point I have ever seen was the inexcusable loss to Ohio Valley.

Could be hand-writing on the wall for him. I don't know. But Davis coming in at the semester, Malik playing well at the three and Sanders playing a lot of two next year in reserve....it may be a case of him not being able to get many minutes and he knows it. I know his girlfriend plays for Wheeling Jesuit, but I don't see him getting much run up there with Boswell, Hilson and Goddard. Best of luck to him if he leaves. It would free another schollie and there were a lot of good players in WV this year.

With all of these Ohio schools, we should be able to get back to recruiting real-well over there in multiple sports including basketball. You can tell a kid that he would be coming back home to play.

I did a mileage/time chart for our school to travel to all G-MAC schools.
