          3 Samoan weightlifters to miss Olympics over virus concerns

          The Samoan government says three home-based members of the Samoa Olympic weightlifting team will not be allowed to compete in Tokyo due to COVID-19 concerns in Japan. Minister of Communications Afamasaga Rico Tupa�i said in a statement that the nation's Cabinet had decided to withdraw Samoa-based members of the team because of Japan�s high infection rate.

            Japan Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga was still uncertain whether fans can be allowed at the Tokyo Olympics because of growing concern about rising COVID-19 cases on Thursday only three weeks before the games. Cases in Tokyo have been steadily on the rise, triggering fears the games would accelerate the spread of the coronavirus. �I have made clear that having no spectators is a possibility,� Suga said as he noted Tokyo's rising caseloads.

              (Reuters) -U.S. soccer player Alex Morgan leaves for the Tokyo Olympics in a week's time but says she is still unsure whether eased coronavirus restrictions for nursing mothers will allow her to bring her 1-year-old daughter with her. Some athletes have complained that they are being forced to choose between the Games and their young children but organisers told Reuters on Wednesday "when necessary, nursing children will be able to accompany athletes to Japan". Organisers have barred family members of athletes from attending the Games due to COVID-19 safety protocols, while foreign spectators have been excluded and limits will be placed on domestic crowds.

Once promoted as an extravaganza to showcase Japan to the world, the Games appear in danger of taking place largely out of public view in a country closed to foreign tourists due to the pandemic. The Games, already delayed a year, are set to open on July 23 despite concern that an influx of tens of thousands of people from around the world could unleash another wave of infections.

                              Seems like the league is trying to push without pushing. It shouldn't be an issue for 1st and 2nd team players, but if you're barely hanging on to your locker and you infect a star who misses a game, the chances of continuing are probably greatly reduced. Probably a good idea for the bottom 20 or so to get the vax. No reason to make it easier to cut you though they certainly won't use the real reason.
