If a metaphor puts so many people out of sorts, it's not a good metaphor.

I'm heartless... it gets the message across. Poster said "it's embarrassing." Not really. Maybe people should get some INsensitivity training. ;-) Again, it's a metaphor. It doesn't mean it's like it. Hyperbole is used to make the point. I don't see many worrying about feelings for a lot of the demonstrations going on.. or even just that anthem kneeling thing.

Not really. It's a metaphor. So many get out of sorts when serious events are used this way. Again, these are meant to be metaphors... never literal comparisons.
