Yeah that’s not true. Ivy Champion Harvard beat New Hampshire and Holy Cross…programs that have made the FCS playoffs in the past. I mean Ferris Bueller could probably go toe to toe with them but most of D2 would not beat them. There are a few FCS level leagues like the Northeast Conference that are a joke but the Ivy isn’t one of them.

You are correct. I know you're only highlighting this season, but for many seasons in years past the Ivy League has had teams that would have been good enough to be in the FCS playoffs had their league allowed them to participate. Now they will be and I'm already looking forward to the 2025 FCS playoffs.

Both Allen and McKinney had massive issues with the construction of their respective stadiums, which isn't overly surprising given that McKinney is the next city north of Allen along US 75 heading north from Dallas.

Why not move it to the Star in Frisco? Small enough to fill up, and unique enough to get everyone excited.
The Ford Center at the Star in Frisco seats about 12,000, which might be about the right size for the D2 title game, but you're also dealing with the egomaniacs who manage events at the Ford Center on behalf of the Cowboys. I used to work there as an event security staffer and the event manager who works for the Cowboys is, to be very charitable, a complete headache to deal with. Picture "Mean Girls" set in the Park Cities and you'll get the idea.

Speaking of Frisco, it's also worth noting that Toyota Stadium is slated to undergo renovations starting after the FCS title game in January and is expected to last into 2027. It's possible that's a reason why Nashville is getting hosting duties for the FCS title game for two years, but that's just a guess on my part:

I've been wrong two or three times in my life before (and two or three of those were someone else's fault) - but I'm pretty sure that's why the game had to be moved.

So I could be wrong, technically.

Remember when the D2 title game had to be moved from Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kansas to McKinney about 7-8 years ago? Renovations to Sporting Park was the main reason why KC backed out from hosting the D2 title game and McKinney stepped in to host. So you might not be wrong about the FCS title game move (though, as best as I can tell, nobody has come out and said it specifically).

EDIT: I neglected to add that it's possible that Frisco could submit a bid for 2028 and beyond once Toyota Stadium's renovations are complete.

Also, for what it's worth, the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl (D3 national championship) is being played this weekend at Houston's Shell Energy Stadium, home of MLS' Houston Dynamo and FCS' Texas Southern football.

Actually they moved it because they just wanted to replace the turf before the game and it wouldn't have been rooted into the playing surface in time for the D2 game. Like they couldn't have taken out the turf after the game and set up a big greenhouse over the field to get the turf to grow and root in right.

The D2 game should be in Tennessee because it’s centrally located to all of our regions. It also should be played in January. It’s not right D2 fans get zero time to plan to go to the game.

I don’t know if this played a factor into the move of the FCS game to Nashville for the next two years. Frisco has sort of marketed themselves as the soccer destination kind of like Omaha has with college baseball and with the World Cup and the DFW area being a host city, it’s possible Fricso decided it might focus it’s resources on that event vs one day of football in early January. The actual matches will be played at Jerrry world, but I bet Frisco will be utilized for all sorts of stuff directly and indirectly related from everything to practice facilities to youth soccer tourneys. It’s going to be a huge revenue generator.

The D2 game should be moved to January . Never understood why D2 had to be different in this regard. At least they did move it a week later, but in the past it interfered with the traditional week for most fall term graduation ceremonies. And like you noted, it makes travel plans a headache and it’s possible ESPN could find it a better TV slot vs trying to plug it in between bowl games and basketball. The D3 game actually got my attention becuase it was on Sunday evening vs being lost in a bunch of programming and not on ESPN U or ESPN 2 like the D2 game almost always finds it’s slot on top of being joined in progress due to some insignificant college basketball game.

Will be answered when the next bid process opens up and whether Frisco will try for a new contract with the NCAA when their current contract is up in 2 years.
