Erskine sees your hand and raises you the rare non-conference divisional grand slam (1 FCS team, 1 D2 team, 1 NAIA team, 1 D3 team): https://erskinesports.com/news/2025/...-schedule.aspx

The weird thing is that all of those schools have been D2 within the last 20 years.

        Another update/dump!

W0 Clark Atlanta vs. Valdosta State
        W0 Elizabeth City at Chowan
        W0 Erskine at St. Andrews
        W0 Livingstone at Charleston
W0 Thomas More at Southern Illinois
        W0 UNC Pembroke at Wingate
W0 West Virginia State at Carson-Newman
W1 Ferris State at Lake Erie
        W1 Gannon at Saginaw Valley
W1 Florida Memorial at Clark Atlanta
W1 Valdosta State at Johnson C. Smith
        W2 Ashland at UIndy
        W2 Erskine at Presbyterian
        W2 Glenville State at Millersville
        W2 Northwood at Saginaw Valley
        W2 Shaw at Ferrum
        W3 Erskine at Brevard
W3 Rio Grande at Ferris State
W4 UNC Pembroke at Valdosta State
W8 North Greenville at Valdosta State

Curiously, Ferrum also has a non-conference game against Concord on Week 11, but it's contingent on them NOT making the inaugural Conference Carolinas championship game, which would be the same weekend. CC already announced a scheduling alliance with the SIAC where each conferences third and fourth place teams will square off Week 11 though, so this makes it seem a bit like Ferrum is anticipating finishing in the bottom 3 of the CC standings. Not super encouraging.

I tracked down the CC/SIAC announcement and it doesn't say it has to be #3/#4 participating. It also says, "In addition, any institution that is scheduled to compete in a postseason competition or has a prior obligation will not be eligible to participate."

So it does. I just assumed they'd automatically send #3 and #4, and I completely glazed over the part about prior obligations. My mistake!

I wonder how many SAC schools will try to pickup games to make up for losing a conference game with Limestone. I looks like Valdosta State has a bye the same week LR was scheduled to play at Limestone.

I doubt there'll be many, if any. Most of the SAC schools already have a game scheduled for W0, and trying to find a mid-season non-conference opponent is near impossible, especially this late into the off-season. Maybe like 1 or 2 do, but probably not much more than that

Sorry it's been a while since I made a proper update post. I just recently finished up my bachelor's degree in computer science, and man it sure kept me busy. I've been keeping the main post up to date in the background since that didn't take too much time out of my day, but I was way too swamped with schoolwork to make my usual update posts or anything else.

I have a lot more free time now though, so on top of updating this with Limestone and New Havens untimely departure and the fallout they caused, among other things, I managed to fill out the Open Dates by Week section at the bottom of the post. I believe I know when every teams open weeks are now, save for two exceptions: Pace and Post should have one open date each on either Week 4 or Week 9, but I don't currently have enough information to know who has which date (i.e. is Pace open W4 and Post open W9 or vice versa). I ended up just not listing it on there, but I figured I'd mention it here as a footnote. I'll continue to monitor things as they develop, thanks for bearing with me!

I wonder if there's a D3 competition requirement as there is in D2 (max of 11 games, 9 vs D2 competition). As of right now, MHB has a 10 game schedule with only seven vs. D3 competition (Mars Hill plus two NAIA schools).
