Given that:
1] NDC has only played in conference to date
2] Everyone knows that the MEC has a losing out of conference record
3] Everyone knows that some of the MEC ooc losses were to other conferences' mediocre teams
4] This is a chance for NDC to do something its never done before

I don't think coach will let the guys overlook SHU

Seton Hill is along way from mediocre 1-20 in last 2 years

And 9+2=11>8+1=9. Will the Selection Committee reward New Haven for playing two fewer games? I don't know. But I know in seasons past it was stated that the NCAA "penalized" team(s) for playing fewer games than other teams.

They didnt play 2 fewer games.... they played a FCS

It's not as easy as just scheduling an FCS game. It takes two to tango. The FCS schools in our vicinity .... no chance they are taking an IUP, Cal or SRU game. None. Zero.

Duquesne, etc., would play Lock Haven yearly. Robert Morris will play out of state D2 teams. IUP is 25 minutes from St. Francis but that game is never happening.

It's no great advantage to a D2 team, either. It's not like playing some bush league FCS team comes with a payday of any significance.

Duquesne hit the jackpot with the 'Bows bringing them out to Aloha Stadium as a homecoming opponent. Beats playing a D2 school.

The selection criteria in previous years specifically stated win-loss record. Not sure if that's what you mean by penalized.

But this year it only mentions "winning percentage". For teams that meet the minimum - 8 D2 games, 10 overall - it's quite possible the criteria sheet only shows 1.000 and it's unknown to the committee if the team is 11-0 or 9-0.

Only DII games are considered for playoff selection/seeding.

yes, but dont say that they didn't play anybody or they PLAYED 2 fewer games.. If they played a much worse D2 team lets say ESU instead of Bryant and killed them, then keeping New Haven out of the playoffs wouldn't be a discussion.

honestly tell that to ODU, last year played Penn, went on to be outright GMAC champions, beat Findlay by 20+ points the day before the selection sunday came out, but the committe still rewarded Findlay for having an 8-2 record vs ODU having a 7-2 record, they were 7-3 with Penn. more games = more wins. they pretty much got hosed even being conference champs. so what i'm saying is history does not work in New Havens favor

Had they played an actual DII instead of Bryant, it probably wouldn't be a discussion...But they didn't, so it is in the discussion. The question for me is is it "better" to play 11 and risk a loss or to play fewer games and have only one loss? Who do you reward, the team that puts it on the field or the team that plays the odds?

100% right the committee did an awful job last year across the board. Last year was a joke.

It showed. That's the thing about the playoffs. You get revealed real quick. Think back to Charleston and Fairmont State.
