Yeah. Their coach is building an unreal program. Every kid learns 2-3 positions. Multiple schemes within the same drive. Lots of pure athletes with great football knowledge.Originally posted by IUPbigINDIANS View Post
Are they healthy? They had two starters miss last week.
They have two sophomores who are already getting offers, and they lost one of their best players to Central Catholic over the summer.

Regardless, some good momentum building to separate the boundary schools by the non-boundary schools. For God's sake, the minimum should be that only PA residents can participate in the PIAA playoffs. Yeah that screws up the model at One Love and Kennedy Catholic, but we can't have schools importing kids.

It’s just a matter of having different standards for classification. Private school that are small would have to compete with larger public schools.Originally posted by Fightingscot82 View PostRegardless, some good momentum building to separate the boundary schools by the non-boundary schools. Southern Columbia is rural right..wins the state foosball title every year right?
I think there is too much hysteria…and I went to a catholic school that could not compete with Norristown High..they steamrolled us in foosball and we probably split over the four years in basketball.

Philly District 12 was one of the last to come into the PIAA playoffs and doesn't have the volume of schools of the WPIAL, which shows how dominant the non-boundary Philly schools have been.Originally posted by RocknTheSnackBar View PostAvonworth's win was #60 for WPIAL. Second most for one district is the 22 by the Philly Catholics

The solution is to come up with new metrics on how to classify each school over 6 classifications.
5A & 6A should be the privates with cash and rich public districts
1 through 4 should be public schools with less resources and private schools that don't ramp up on sports.
Each school would need to report their athletic budgets.
I just don't think enrollment levels are the most important metric.
Bishop Guilfoyle should be in 5A at minimum.
That should even it out for the poor put upon rural schools to be largely alone in the lower classifications so they can have the whole town rally around and have their moments of pride...because we all know that matter most in Timbuktu, PA.

Just separate the public boundary schools from the non-public schools. That's a lot easier. And money is not necessarily an indicator of success in high school sports, especially among public schools.Originally posted by IUPNation View PostThe solution is to come up with new metrics on how to classify each school over 6 classifications.
