I can't access the NCAA football rule book at the moment due to site maintenance, but I seem to recall that if the blocked PAT crosses the line of scrimmage, then it's a dead ball. If the ball goes away from the line of scrimmage or otherwise doesn't cross the line of scrimmage, then the defense can recover and return it for a defensive conversion.

A blocked PAT attempt is a dead ball regardless of where the ball lands (ahead or behind line of scrimmage) in high school football.

(It's 2:30am on a Sunday night and I'm sore from working an 8+ hour shift at SMU football's season opener so I'm a bit exhausted. I'll try to remember to confirm this if/when the NCAA publications site goes back online.)

Last year Fairmont blew the doors off Seton Hill, so the result this year was certainly an improvement on that.

A little early in the year to start this conference superiority puffing the chest thing. A good MEC team will give a good PSAC team everything they can handle.
The conference superiority stuff from fans NOT of IUP, Slippery rock, Kutz and cal is just funny

I hope (1) team wins each week. I'd prefer the other West teams lose every week. I could personally give a rats a$$ about the conference hyperbole.

Wasn't funny at the time but all the barbs about it years later make me laugh every time. Still hard to believe.

Live ball in college. Dead ball in High School.

Interesting results in the first week but I wouldn’t get too high or low based on how your team did. The first week is the toughest to predict and some teams are just more prepared than others to start the season for whatever reason. Of course, we’ve been waiting months for football so it’s easy to get excited and overreact.

Probably the biggest surprise to me was Shepherd giving up 41 to Frostburg State and getting beat. It’s worth pointing out it was 27-20 early in the 4th quarter and 34-27 late before Frostburg put it out of reach, but it was a back and forth game otherwise.

Digging deeper into that Shepherd defense, the DL just was manhandled. That can't happen period, especially with that being the most veteran unit on the defense. Even though the Rams were able to cut it to 27-20... it should have been 23-6 at half instead of 20-13. Ram had a fluke block field goal returned for a touchdown gift before the half. Frostburg had that game in hand and the Rams couldn't stop them at all. I was a bit encouraged that the offense was able to try and play a little keep up in the 2nd half, but it was a total team loss through and through.

Rams get a couple weeks before they get a crack at Slippery Rock, but this opener provided more questions than answers which is a scary prospect for the rest of the season.

I'd say Edinboro coming out strong against ESU was the surprise of the weekend. Shep has never really been known for its defense. That's not an insult - they've been usually middle of the pack although a few top 5 seasons recently, but still giving up ~20ppg those seasons.

I only hold grudges against those who openly hate IUP for no real reason.

How often do I bring up the **** IUP sign at Shippensburg? Hardly because Ship fans on here aren’t IUP hating ass wipes.

Only “you people” at Slimey Pebble are allowed to hate IUP because we hate you back! 😘

I couldn’t say Edinboro’s win because I previously said I liked them to be better than most predicted. I wasn’t surprised that Boro won, but was a little surprised at the margin.

Shepherd may be a lot worse than we thought. I guess this will all play out but congrats to your team for showing well to start the season. It sure beats the alternative.
