  • New UWF Stadium

When this opens, wow. No more games in the local minor league ballpark.

Just a wild guess here but that stadium wasn't built for them to stay down here in the bush league.

Its a great place to be. Pensacola metro population has grown 14% since 2015 - but UWF's enrollment has grown by 102% since 2015.

I'm surprised that the capacity is only 7500.

I go to Panama City for vacation every year. It is an incredible recruiting advantage. Wonderful place.

Yeah....not the part of Flori-duh I'd ever set foot in/.....too conservative for me.....

Actually...if I never set foot in that state ever again...i won't miss it.

I was there enough before 2002 before it turned in a cesspool.....

Does building a beautiful, state-of-the-art stadium but only with a capacity of 7500 translate into moving up? I mean, SRU gets that kind of attendance.

I think UWF is a little but isolated. Do they not draw well there, considering that they are a pretty good program?

Granted, nobody wants to play UWF in the playoffs. But i expected that program to become more dominant than they have been. I expected the Argos to go on a run like GVSU or FSU and they haven't.

                  Mercyhurt's stadium holds about 2,000.

They likely don't draw well because they are in a major D1 region. And, with few exceptions, nobody cares about D2.

Question is, if they move up what conference would they be joining?

Most likely the United Athletic Conference, which is full of recent D2 jumpers: Abilene Christian, North Alabama, Tarleton State, and West Georgia. The SoConn is somewhat down that way but almost all private schools and much more Atlantic coast than Gulf.

It is probably designed to be expanded when the time is needed.

                        Villanova's stadium only has a 12,500 capacity.

UWF hasn't played there since 2021.
