It must have been the third game of the season because Hampton's schedule now shows them playing North Alabama (new Big South member).

Speaking of Hampton, the Pirates will host ECSU the first week and Virginia Union the second week.

Hampton's schedule shows Howard as their week 3, and Liberty as their week 4 (which would be WSSU's week 3) (https://hamptonpirates.com/schedule.aspx?path=football). From looking online it looks like the Liberty game was scheduled in 2017, so I can imagine the fact that D2 appears to be starting a week later then FBS and FCS this year that's how things got thrown off.

Also, I am glad to see Hampton and Howard let cooler heads prevail and that this game is back on the books after the MEAC attempted to blacklist Hampton for leaving.

Speaking of D2 starting a week later, I guess ECSU got a waiver to play Hampton on 8/31? Which means they will probably have a bye in one of the early weeks.

In an unfortunate turn of events Malone has dropped football. They were scheduled to play Shaw on 9/14 @ Malone in what I assume was the return game from 2017.

Shaw will now host Bowie State in an official non-conference game that date.

Good to see Bowie and Shaw able to work things out, and also good to see Bowie pull two D2 OOC games. I wonder if that McKendree game from last year was a one off or is McKendree going to visit Bowie at some point in the future.

                  ECSU @ NCCU (FCS - MEAC) 9/21

This makes two FCS games for ECSU next season, both against former CIAA members.

So ECSU has posted their schedule and they have 11 games. A couple of questions come up: 1) did the NCAA have to approve their 8/31 game against Hampton and 2) since the NCAA only allows 11 games what happens if ECSU wins the North?

                    https://ecsuvikings.com/news/2019/2/...-schedule.aspx

                    @ Hampton (FCS - Big South) 8/31
                    vs. Allen (NAIA) 9/7
@ Livingstone (Counts as OOC) 9/14
                    @ NCCU (FCS - MEAC) 9/21
vs. Fayetteville State (@ Rocky Mount) 9/28
                    @ St. Augs 10/5
                    vs. VA State 10/12
                    vs. Lincoln 10/19
                    @ Chowan 10/26
                    @ VA Union 11/2
                    vs. Bowie State 11/9
                    CIAA Championship 11/16 ???????????????

Virginia Union's schedule includes their opener at Hampton and a Week 2 showdown against SAC champion Lenoir-Rhyne:

Great question, LegalRam, I know any scheduled game prior to September has to get approval/waiver from the NCAA. That said, the question about eleven scheduled games, with the potential for a conference championship game (makes 12) and then playoffs... curious to know what are the rules are surrounding that, too!
