Saw our 2019 schedule online and yeah it's a doozy! Losing 12 starters, one of which was a top runner in all of D2 football. Boulware has to bring a new approach or we could realistically start the season 0-4 or 5! Not trying to be a negative Nancy, just realistic given where the program is and what we've seen in the last four seasons. Praying a change of focus happens this offseason.

Be optimistic but don't hold your breath.

So ECSU has posted their schedule and they have 11 games. A couple of questions come up: 1) did the NCAA have to approve their 8/31 game against Hampton and 2) since the NCAA only allows 11 games what happens if ECSU wins the North?

Does the NCAA have to approve it or will they just not recognize it for regional rankings and playoff participation? If its a matter of them not recognizing it I say more schools should add a game and get that experience and revenue. Hell only 1 and maybe 2 CIAA schools would have a chance of making the playoffs anyway.

Yep, they are still associate members for football and bowling since Conference Carolinas doesn't sponsor either sport. IMO it's a fair deal for the conference and Chowan. Claflin doesn't offer football so we would be stuck with 11 football members if we gave Chowan the boot. Now we technically could go to a true round robin schedule and allow every team 1 OOC game, but I personally like seeing teams play more then 1 OOC game.

I don't think we have seen the end of the CIAA expansion so we could be gaining a football member at some point (cough cough Benedict......). If that happens then I think Chowan is out, but with Conference Carolinas schools continue to add football (i.e. Barton and Erskine) I think Chowan would find a place to land.

Benedict almost seems like a no brainer for the CIAA to pursue, not the least of which is that it gives Claflin a potential "travel partner" for basketball scheduling.

Yep, at this point they are the only SC school in the SIAC. Paine is a close travel partner for them, but overall average travel would be better in the CIAA South then in the SIAC East (and as you pointed out they would pick Claflin back up). Plus cross over travel to the CIAA North schools is a lot better then some of those trips they have to make to SIAC West schools.
