That's the last I had seen as well. Hoping someone active in the UWF side of things was hearing anythingOriginally posted by UNALions View Post
About a month or so ago, Matt Brown said he expected announcements by the end of the basketball tournaments for D2 callups but didn’t specify any particular schools of the three that filed letters with the NCAA.Mavs > Everyone

Four years after leaving D2 and the SAC, the Queens Royals are ASUN champs in men’s basketball and headed to March Madness. They were the 3 seed in the conference tournament and beat top-seeded UCA today after beating 2nd seed Austin Peay yesterday. They benefited by the shortened transition from 4 years to 3 years. Otherwise, they would have been ineligible this season. Congrats to them!Go GSC and Roar LIONS!!

Local Pensacola publication owner scooping in his blog that the UWF announcement is imminent.
”University of West Florida President Manny Diaz will soon announce plans for the school to jump from Division II to Division I in all sports.”UWF's Manny Diaz is set to announce a jump to Division I—but who pays the bill? Sources warn the athletic program could be in the red within three years.Go GSC and Roar LIONS!!

I'm interested in whether the Argos would move up for 2026 or 2027. They already have practically a full schedule set for the 2026, and leaving for D1 with only about 3 months advance warning would be a pretty crappy thing to do in general, let alone with the state of GSC football right now. I know New Haven moved up with about 2 months advance notice last year though, and UWF's cancellation of their Chowan game is giving me pause.

UWF also hosted the state board of colleges this week to update them on UWF progress. Also to seek funding for move? Seen many reports that UWF will play UAC schedule this year. Possibly why no schedule released yet.

1st year may be rough, haha! We'd be playing with a D2 roster essentially it seems. Man, so many changes. I don't even know what message board we talk on now. I've loved the D2 experience and especially everything D2football.com has been and done. Excited for the future, but the time in D2 has been incredibly special.* 2022 BACK 2 BACK GSC CHAMPIONS and D2 FINAL 4

Yeah, West Florida moving to D1 hasn’t been an especially well-kept secret in my neck of the woods. The university is teasing a “major athletics announcement” on April 2nd, one that will involve the university president and athletic director. My expectation is that this announcement will be that the program intends to join the ASUN/UAC. There’s been mutual interest in getting to this point for years, but my current understanding is that these conversations began to really accelerate in mid-January.
Will anybody join them in the immediate future? Not that I am currently aware of. I previously reported that Nova Southeastern and Lincoln Memorial are exceptions to the current moratorium on schools reclassifying to DI, as they completed paperwork showing they had legitimate interest from D1 leagues…but I do not currently have information that would make me believe either of those schools are about to accept and announce any invitations.
My current understanding is that additional realignment moves in the next few months are likely to center around the WCC, Big West, OVC and UAC/ASUN. Lots of leagues would like additional members…but there aren’t that many schools looking to change leagues.

Tough. They'll need to find 5 non-conference games, and while that's better than finding 7-8 like they did last year, FCS schedules everywhere are pretty much finalized now. I wonder how many of their previously scheduled D2 games stay on the schedule.Originally posted by UNALions View Post

It was a great rivalry while it lasted. Best of luck to UWF. They will be missed. I’ve been following Delta State football since 2007, and there is more different than similar it seem, but (almost) 20 years is a long time.
