Gee, I don't know......you would think that if a coach turned a 5-6 team one year into a 10-1 team the next year, I'd say that was pretty good coaching.

At least the Coaching Network made the right selection........just sayin'
Congrats to Coach Cooley, of course, but I’m not sure why Coach Jackson didn’t win “Coach of the Year.” He was/is more than deserving.

I agree that the dramatic turnaround of the Blazers in one year should give edge to Jackson over Cooley. This is not meant to demean Cooley’s effort this year, I just think that the job Jackson did going from .500 to the playoffs in one year is the kind of improvement that merits Coach of year vs taking playoff team back to playoffs.

It's odd to see such little representation from the co-championship team on this list with so much representation from teams that didn't contend.

Yeah, it looks like VSU was 4th or 5th, depending on how people place the UWG NGU tie.

              DSU - 14
              UWF - 12
              UWG - 8
              NGU - 8
              Valdosta - 7
              UWA - 6
              MC - 5
              Shorter - 5
              Chowan - 1

Our sorry QB making freshman of the year tells me the entire conference needs to recruit better.

I certainly don’t disagree with you but just playing devil’s advocate. Getting a team in this conference like Delta St. to Back to Back championships is quite a feat as well.

I don’t necessarily disagree with that either. That is well worth the award.
Both could have been co- COTY. I know the other coaches vote on the selection but not sure of the criteria.

But, it is what it is. It has been a fun season with hopefully more to come. Proud of this team and coaching staff!

if you think that is interesting, then go to the GSC stat page and look at the individual leaders in the different categories.
                      Numbers don’t lie.
Anywho. It is what it is. Things have a way of working out for the best.

i also want to send congratulations to Coach Cooley. A great coach for many years. My commentary was nothing against the Delta State coach at all.
