  • Blazers in the Portal

    Wow!

It looks like nearly all the Blazers with eligibility left are announcing for the portal. Most of the line and several of the key players (Bullard, Billups, etc) are out there and receiving offers. And Campoletti has announced for the NFL draft!

Going to be a LOT of sahoes for the new head coach to fill!!

No one is surprised by this. The college football we all grew up with and loved is dead. It’s now just minor league ball.

Is there a way for us to look at the portal site?

Just because they put their name in the portal doesn’t guarantee they are leaving. Some may decide to stay at VSU once they see who the new coach is.

FBS rosters drop to 105 next year. Lots of players will be looking for teams. Again, just because you put your name in the portal doesn't mean you'll land somewhere.

I have a feeling that at least around 26 of those VSU transfer players will be back on Valdosta State's roster before to long.

Sometimes it takes a little while to see that the grass isn't always greener on the other side, especially when your calls aren't being returned, and the other so called better school and NIL deal options you thought would be pouring in are now suddenly falling by the wayside. When players quickly jump on the me-2 bandwagon, there becomes very blurred lines between pride, simple common sense, and true self evaluation.

Some might follow their old coach to Prairie View while others may wait to see who is named the new coach. Look at LR last year, Jacobs move was real late, not sure if the first portal window was closed or not when he left but they ended up losing several guys when the second window opened up. It seems that you never know who is on the squad until the season starts.

I think a coaching change automatically opens up the portal.

It does. 30 day window for D1. In D2, there aren’t windows..it’s always open.

Speedy WR Rodney Bullard to Michigan State. Their center Will Flowers to App State.

Has Valdosta State indicated when they will hire a new head coach or are they going to stick with the interim coach?

The interim coach has already left as well. He went with the former coach to Prairie View. Football Scoop as reported that the OC will be named as head coach, but there has been no official announcement.

Prairie View A&M is a member of the (HBCU) SWAC Conference (D1) comprised of mostly similar type HBCU institutions.

It's enrollment is around 2,500 students less than Valdosta State

I agree 100%. It's basically destroying college football as we knew it. In the past, players would play their hearts out just for the chance to play college football on scholarship. Greed and agents kicked in and convinced players that loyalty is basically an evil that will hold them back, and education is and should be a secondary priority.
