Our conference is much stronger than the GAC top to bottom your SOS proves that. We played Pitt week 0 OUT OF CONFERENCE on the Road. New QB started and struggled a bit but I think the rest of the way he has done well. He is a candidate for the Harlon Hill. You have played 2nd place teams for your playoff game - GV and Pitt - you lost a conference game we lost none. We played a conference champ that beat your conference champ correct? I am always here to congratulate a winner as I had to do last year when we lost to GV in playoffs the bitter rival. May the best scheme win LOL....

Hahah the fields??? The only guys that graduated who aren’t in white collar jobs are coaches and a couple commissioned officers in the army. I promise you the path for guys who graduate out of Harding is a lot brighter. The class from last year has 2 guys in Med school and 1 in law school- and that’s just the OL.Originally posted by FSUBulldog27 View Post
your plane ride home next week will suck. All your average seniors will have to go in the fields to work for a living or maybe a lead greater at Walmart. Get to bed bible thumper

This thread got out of hand pretty quickly. The battle will be won in the trenches, and it may come down to whoever has the ball last. I think I take the dogs who aren't one-dimensional. Ifffffff Harding gets too far behind it's going to be a tough up hill battle for them. How many of you guys are going to Big Rapids this Saturday?
Harding has done a great job recruiting the players who fall through the cracks as they don't meet the physical standards of top D2 and D1 schools. I hope they keep their ear muffs on, too, as the dogs like to bark at their opponents.

This an interesting point about recruiting though. When u guys look at marquee players, ur looking at what recruiting ranks say about talent. Let’s take QB for example, how watered down for any of us is top QB talent by the time it hits D2 level. The best are snagged by FBS and next best usually by FCS. Now how many FBS and FCS teams run exclusively an option style offense. We don’t care about the best pro style QB’s because they don’t beat suit what we do. I would wager to say though that Cole K is one of the very best option style QBs in the country regardless of level. The kid simply hardly ever misses a read. No his athletic prowess may not compare to some other D2 QBs but for what we’re looking for we couldn’t find a better fit. Same with WR. We all want the ones who can do it all, but the way we evaluate that position is going to be much diff than the rest of the country. So when you say best talent what does that really mean? We have some of the best talent in the country for what we do.Originally posted by FSUBulldogs View PostThis thread got out of hand pretty quickly. It makes sense and I feel like more D2 schools could adopt this model and do well. Northern Michigan attempted it this year, but this was their first year at it.Originally posted by BisonOL View Post

The best talent to me is the overall talent of the athlete. You have a model where your players must be able to do certain things well based on their position. I completely disagree with your statement about your QB. He may be able to run the option well, but there are so many D1 players who run the option that I can confidently say are better athletes than him. You must take the blinders off every once in a while, man. Yes, he does a great job on the Harding team, but you can sub him out for about 100 players across all levels that don't just run the option. When I watched him in the two playoff games and the OBU game, he looked very slow for a running QB. He can hit the holes hard, but he isn't outrunning anyone.

Think u missed my second point. I wholeheartedly agree that there are are other option QBs out there prob more naturally athletically gifted, but….he hardly ever misses a read!! For what we do so much is placed on the QB making split second reads that precision > overall athletic talent. Now would u love both….obviously. But I’ll take read over speed any day. The kid is simply a winner and that part is unquestionable. And I don’t know about 100. There was only one option qb who walked away with a NC last year at any level D2 and up and that was Cole. I’ll go u a step further. I’m not sure there is a qb including service academies that reads the def any better. There’s a reason we were the first team in the history of college fb all levels to rush for over 6000 yds last yr and a reason we’re on pace for 7000 this year if we go all the way.Originally posted by FSUBulldogs View Post

I’ll play a little devil’s advocate. Not many option teams playing 15 games.. maybe LR when they played NWMSU in the champ game?Originally posted by BisonOL View Post

I’ll concede that point but not too many if any who have averaged 435 yds/game either. Plus since this was about Cole K it just magnifies my main point, he’s a winner.Originally posted by Divisiontwo View Post

I just watched the Ferris/UCO game - and while the field was full of good football players, really good players - you’d be hard pressed to argue there aren’t 100 swap outs (if that’s the stick your going to measure with) from all levels for any of them. Players are recruited to fill a role regardless of scheme. Cole’s role is to make snap decisions and when he calls his own number - to hit the hole hard. Hasn’t been many better.Originally posted by FSUBulldogs View Post

Bottom line is if Hardings Flexbone gets rolling - it wont be because they have “sub par” athletes. It will be because Ferris does.
We’re all about to find out if you’ve got the dudes.Last edited by BisonswithanS; 12-02-2024, 07:12 PM.
