  • VSU former poster/Current professor passes

    VSU Fans,

A former long time poster on here/current professor at VSU Janice (Jan) Lowe......aka BlazerLady passed away on May 19th due to a heart attack..

Janice graduated with a degree in Mathematics from Valdosta State University where her love for Blazer Athletics was born. She went on to earn her Masters Degree in Computer Science. Janice loved math and after many years teaching at the high school level, she joined the Math Department at Valdosta State University and taught there for 38 years. While at VSU, Janice was a faculty advisor for Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority, received the Outstanding Alumni Award for the Department of Mathematics, was a charter member of the Georgia Epsilon Chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon Mathematics Honor Society and became Co-Advisor to this as well.

Janice had just announced her retirement from VSU and was planning to relax, travel and continue to support her beloved Blazers.

    RIP my friend......

I'm assuming you meant VSU, not GVSU.

    Godspeed, BlazerLady

Yea, to be clear, this is a Valdosta State poster/professor. Not a GVSU poster/professor. Will be missed nonetheless.

My screw-up. I reported it. Hopefully an admin will change the title. I got the rest in the post.

Yeah, I think that the memory of the time that she sent me cookies was just a few days ago. Big loss for the Blazers.

I am so far behind that I hadn't seen this yet. That's terrible news.

When Notre Dame College played Valdosta in the final four in 2018 I messaged her asking about tailgating logistics. She was glad to help us. There was a very welcoming atmosphere at that game which I think had a lot to do with BlazerLady. Sorry to hear about her passing.

She did the GSC Pick'um and her cookies was the prize every year. Our forum feels abandoned without her. She was our most prolific poster with individual relationships through private messages with all of us. I disconnect from the forum the minute we lose so I didn't hear about her passing until last week. I normally reengage a week or two before the season, so when I did, I noticed a private message. When I checked, it was a message from BL from the end of last season.
