  • new Super Regions for next year

Where do I find information on what conferences will be in each Super Region next year?

  • #2
That's the alignment, but I thought there might be more freedom WRT where teams are placed. I may be getting sports mixed up? So, teams might be selected by regions, but then committee can move teams to other regions. There was some of the allowed lately, but I think it even will apply to the 1-4 seeds. AND, conf. champs get an auto bid, so no more earned access.

It's not always happened. This season, the 5-7 seeds could be moved to different regions. That is true. Next season, I think it applies to every seed AND it's not just to reduce travel costs, but actually more appropriate matchups based upon metrics, etc.

I guess we'll see next year.

So basically, knowing the NCAA, we're going to end up with the same thing we've had every year..lol

Yeah I know, but this is the NCAA. They'll shift to reduce flights and still screw it up. We'll see how playoffs go next year.

Will be bad for GMAC schools to be in SR3. While they can compete somewhat in the other region, those schools don't really have a chance against Ferris or Grand Valley. Who different level of football. But it will make the path for Ferris or Grand Valley even easier.

I think you meant for Ferris as GV still has to beat them :)

In all seriousness, the region of death just shifted from SR 3 to SR4. I'm happy to see it happen, as maybe SVSU or Davenport may get to shine a little bit instead of getting knocked out by Ferris or GVSU in the first round.

Thing is that we're still getting the NSIC into the region. They're not quite the MIAA, but probably better overall than the GAC.

NSIC is deep and they tend to beat the crap out of each other. They haven't produced a true contender in a while, but usually have 5 or 6 teams who can give anyone a game. (Sort of like the MIAA this year.)

Region 4 next year for you guys to enjoy - loaded. We will be collecting receipts for all the teams that ran from SR3 to SR1 and will be back in SR3 next year. Ashland, Findley, Hillsdale, Tiffin, Northwood - just to name a few.

If there was only a national tournament things would be so much better than regionalization. But money trumps what is in the best interest for the student athletes. Happens in multiple sports, not just football. I know they say they are going to make some adjustments, but time will tell.

Been seeing some ads for Hillsdale College and I always put the commit there that they should move back to the GLIAC!

Hillsdale is a private college that takes zero dollars from the government. I don't think they want to compete with state schools on a weekly basis with their multi-million dollar athletic budgets and facilities. They are more suited to compete in the GMAC, as is Northwood.

Davenport could leave the GLIAC too.

Nah I think Davenport is staying in the GLIAC. They are doing just fine competing with the teams already in there with all the sports that they have at their university. They just made the Calder Cup that they give to the winner of the Ferris Davenport game.
