  • Northwest (8-2) at Central Missouri (5-5)

    Lots of questions:

Northwest Missouri - Will they get focused on Central Missouri or maybe be hung over after losing to Fort Hays? Sure, the Bearcats are playing for a spot in the playoffs, but will they be looking past the Mules....could this have the makings of a trap game for the Bearcats?

Central Missouri - What's their motivation for this game? Sure it's senior day, but that alone won't be enough. Maybe revenge for the last minute loss in 2017 at Arrowhead. Do the Mules put it all together and take out a season's worth of frustration on the Bearcats? The Mules are not playing for the post season, so they have nothing to lose...the Mules will be playing with house money....and throwing the dice at every opportunity.

Should be a big crowd as Northwest fans always travel well and if reserved ticket sales are any indication, then the Mules fans will be there in force. Records aside, there's no love lost between the Mules and Bearcats.... it's still UCM vs NW and it will be true football weather around 40 degrees.

    Let it fly momma.....

NW playing for PO spot and share of MIAA. That should be motive enough for them. The opponent is a sidebar.

Not a chance they suffer hangover from FH game. If they aren't foaming at the mouth to lay a beatdown on UCM, they don't deserve to be in the playoffs. Flush yesterday, start preparing for Saturday.

"Should be" is the key phrase. I was thinking there should have been plenty of motivation yesterday as well.

I watched the 1st half this morning. I didn't realize Wright had such a sidearm/shotput throwing motion. No wonder his accuracy is bipolar. If he doesn't get his hips turned and feet set, no telling where the ball will go. Plus, he did nothing but lock on to the hot route. The ball was going to the 1st option no matter the coverage. I know the QB race was tight throughout the Spring. Do you consider giving the back-up a couple of series throughout the game? Probably too late in the season at this point.

Our DL did the job yesterday. Phillips/Eskew/Roberts were nearly unblockable and constantly in the face of Fuller. On the Tigers 2nd TD, Lane got caught watching the QB and took himself out of the play. Didn't give his corner any support over the top but the ball was perfectly thrown too.

The OL definitely isn't getting it done in the run game. They are pass-blocking on running plays and getting zero push. This looks like a philosophy change.

So many RS-FR and SOPHs playing on both sides of the ball. Maybe there is hope........

I think we match up well with UCM but nothing is a given this season.

Bearcat97 is right. "Should be" is the key phrase this year for several teams and the pick'em results are confirmation. Sure, the Bearcats are a huge favorite to beat UCM and probably will. But, I still think the Mules are playing with house money and will be a dangerous opponent.

Coach Boda will dial it up for the leagues #1 offense and the Mules run game can be as dangerous as the Mules passing game. I don't expect 4th down to be an automatic punting down for the Mules in this game. For the Mules defense...DC Wes Bell's job may on the line...and after he admittingly blew the 2017 Arrowhead game in the final minute....I expect the Mules defense will play with fire in their eyes and bring a lot of heat.

Where was the lack of motivation in yet another Northwest home field loss to Fort Hays State? Since Mel and Adam left, the Bearcats have become a little soft and beatable. Fort Hays State Tigers...doing their part in keeping the Bearcats down. The Mules won't lack motivation or intensity come Saturday in Warrensburg.

The two teams that beat you, we outscored 69-6. You can look at it multiple ways. That's what happens when neither team took care of business.

Picture this: On a play ground two kids argue who is the toughest. One beats the other kid up. Does the loser punk bit** then say we are even cause this other kid can beat you up? Title is in name alone...

You need to give back that 5-way shared title then.

You didn't answer the question, what's the mighty Bearcat excuse for losing two straight at home to Ft. Hays. Bearcat posters are starting to become unraveled and you're the leader, greenie...lol.
