We have not had a consistently high scoring offense since 2016 when Zimmerman at QB was distributing the ball to Grove, Jackson, Wilcox, Schmidt, Williams, Wilson and others.

18-23 year-olds aren't exactly the model of consistency

We’ve had good rushing attacks, but haven’t had much balance without a consistently good passing game since then. I don’t want to say poor QB play, but inaccurate passes along with plenty of dropped balls have plagued NW since 2016. Wright stabilized the position after a year of Martin/Baker, but never found consistently as a passer. We’ll have to see if a healthy Hohensee fixes that on a weekly basis or not, but at least there’s some hope that he can. UNK’s defense was surprisingly atrocious though… reminded me of the Central game when it seemed like everyone was running free.

            • Congrats to Mike H. He’s this week’s MIAA Offensive POW. He was also Special Teams POW in week 1. Probably not too many players have won both in same season.

does NW still have those 3 Dlineman from 19'? Those guys were impressive, the 4th Dlineman wasn't as good...

Sam Roberts and Zach Howard have improved their play. Phillips graduated, although his little brother is a very good linebacker now.

Certainly not at the QB/P combo, but I’m sure it isn’t that rare for a WR or RB that also has return duties. I don’t know for fact, but I would assume Miles and Rector pulled it off back in the day for NW, maybe even K Wright.

ya the team is obv still very good, just no longer the preeminent force of d2. still top 10 nationally i would guess.

Brown was a man among boys. Definitely a D1 talent playing D2. Good on PSU for getting him when they did. He and Dickey were a deadly pair.
