Them having more schollies might make recruiting a little tougher for MIAA teams. I could seevthem recruiting directly from MIaa schools via the portal, too.
Not sure How it would impact D2 conference alignment.
they'll probably be able to start beating miaa teams now. i am guessing they think they need to do it to survive via tv $ - it certainly isn't b/c they're conquered the mv. as far as the rest of it, idk, if a dude's good enough to go d1 & is so inclined then if not there somewhere else, not sure it matters much in that sense.
Well it'll be interesting see what comes of this on two different perspectives.
Number one can Mizzou State conquer Springfield audiences at a D1 level to get the support necessary to support a FBS School.
Number two will this cause the ripple effect of pulling another school up out of D2 to join the Missouri valley football conference.
Number 3 will this result in a talent drain of mid-level and three-star players who used to go to Missouri D2 schools and get partial scholarships and now go to Missouri State and get FBS full scholarships. And honestly it might also affect Northwest Arkansas Tulsa as well.
For what is this due to this other four schools in the Springfield area who play smaller ball will they lose fan support. Msst Southwest Baptist evangel and Drury.
As far Missouri State I think it's a good move. They were never going to be able to get better in the mvfc. And a move to the OVC would have not done them any good. It's something they've been working on for 30 years. I hope they make it Missouri's too big of a state to have only one FBS. Especially one that underachieves so much

With Western IL leaving this summer, 10 football schools remain so they have no need to "bring up a D2 school." Not that someone would want to join that monster. In basketball and other sports, they could certainly add another mid-level D1 like they recently have with Valpo and UIC. Guessing Omaha, ORU, UMKC and maybe Oakland get a call.

I’d surprised if ORU moved to the Missouri Valley. Augustana applied for membership into the Summit a few years ago.

What's the rule for playing in 2 separate divisions? Villanova does it. I think all the major 4 Dakota schools do too. All play FBS basketball but FCS football. Can it go the other way?

FBS is a football designation. In all other sports it's just Division I with no subdivisions.

D1 is D1 in all sports but football.
I think the rule is you can go up or down as long as it's not football or basketball.

Playing up is no longer allowed except for teams that are grandfathered (e.g. Dallas Baptist baseball, Augusta golf) and sports where your division doesn't have enough teams for a championship (e.g. hockey, men's volleyball). Playing down hasn't been allowed since the early 90s.

Both the Summit and the WAC would love to have UCO and PSU, the former and OVC would probably love to have C Missouri as well. If your school has any future plan to go D1 I would jump on the oppurtunity NOW!
