Northwest Bearcats - Power Of The Paw Episode 1

Moved this NW video, "Power Of The Paw - Episode 1" to a new thread so it wouldn't get lost in the "???????" thread that addressed a different topic. Thanks to Mule Dad for bringing this to our attention for those of us who may otherwise have delayed in seeing this. As Mule Dad pointed out, since this video is referred to as "episode 1", it will interesting to see how many episodes might be coming our way.

These have been excellent. I’m really impressed with what Johnny Mac is doing. I’m actually excited about NW FB again and will keep my season tix. We already have motel reservations for the Mankato game and are meeting a NW fan from MN at the game

Just out of curiosity since NWMSU and the MIAA as a whole is moving back into the same region as the LSC.

Is NWMSU continuing the game plan of recruiting most of their team as freshman to stay in the program 4 years or have they (other MIAA schools?) morphed into the modern model and started taking in more D1 transfers and NIL?

I remember WTAMU getting flack in the 2010s for taking in D1 mercenaries and not building their program from scratch.

We heard a lot about this from coaches this year. I think pretty much all the coaches we spoke with will tell you they want to build the program with high school kids. Oh course though if they feel like they can get better talent or fill a couple holes using the portal they are going to do that as well.

Northwest in particular stated they want to re establish the KC-Omaha-Des Moines pipeline and by looking at all the commits they have already from that area, they are well on their way.

at this point i would argue roster management is probably the best term & perspective. every program is behooved to use hs & the portal to the highest degree possible to fill out a roster. reality is every program has an entrance & exit & the guys that do the best job managing that will win titles.

it's going to continue to change too as they try & figure out what if any rules they can implement & enforce & the subsequent ripple effects down to our level. but regardless that talking point you referenced from the pre portal era about how to best build a program is dead as the game has changed.

i think you can & should build a culture that makes your place a hard one to leave & an attractive one to join but that's not any different than what any program should have been doing before.
            Go Bearcats!

It seems like conference wide transfers in have gone up some but so have transfers out like all conferences.

The core of most teams is still home grown but everyone uses the portal. It's especially tough to keep exceptional players.

Ronald Moore, Brian Shay and many of the other all time D2 names would be getting money thrown at them to leave in today's climate instead of staying 4 years to torch the D2 record books.

Even ZZ had to be paid to stay a 2nd year at UCM.

Will you be covering the shuttering of the NW Bearcat football program when its late October and the once mighty Cats are 4-5 and home attendance is 800 people and most of them are there for the free mini basketball giveaway?

in all seriousness i dont want to admit it but I like what NW is doing with the early commits and emphasis on the NE,IA area. Hope the fan base has patience for at least 2 years with this new staff.

Could be a rough year for both Cats and Gorillas.

I think he's running with the 2's behind sophomore LeAngelo Bell.

Also, former Bearcat Jake Weber is running with the 2's at WR as well. Both should contribute this season for the Mules. I can easily see Tank as the 3rd down RB.
