At some point PTSD ceases to be an excuse and the guy paints himself into a corner as a vehicle moron.
Like someone said above, the 2 things aren't mutually exclusive, or even contradictory.

Tons of people drive on expired tags.....

I made several jurisdictions a lot of money popping folks for expired tags.

Strangely enough, most had valid insurance and operators licenses

it all adds up to chaos and dysfunction, empathy has morphed into doing backflips to explain it all away itt. gary pinkel was suspended a game and took a pay cut i think in 2011 for his dui iirc - just one example of potential consequences for ad.

while my heart goes out to him ad did something dangerous, reckless, and stupid that deserves recompense. if he weren’t a winner he’d have been fired by now.

Bearcat that is strange they were good except tags.

I had forgot about Pinkle's DUI. Great example due to program trajectory and possible consequences. Since the world has changed a bit over the last 14 years maybe its all OOC games he's suspended plus community service. Sounds like he's already in an in patient treatment program which is huge.

if that's true perhaps this is a blessing in disguise that this happened w/o anyone getting hurt. maybe he needed a collision (metaphor) to wake him up. if you just think in general about situations like this, undoubtedly loved ones have likely tried to help him already to no avail.

anything could happen relative to consequences that was just what i remembered off the top of my head. i'm sure we could find one that got popped while struggling & the school moved off him - it's what i would do if saddled w/ a turd.

i googled college coach dui & after several ad articles was this one showing some potential outcomes for other coaches who got one:

useful for framing where this might go.

Bob Huggins basically got fired twice for it. Once at Cincinnati and again at West Virginia. There could have been and probably were other reasons (Cincinnati had players in trouble and NCAA violations), but the DUI’s finished the job.

Bob Huggins is a hell of a lot more famous than AD. My question, if he did get sacked would NW come calling?

Obviously, but it’s example of a successful coach that lost his job over a similar situation. I’d put Huggins on a similar level as the previously mentioned Pinkel… the end result of this could go a number of different ways.

I’ve thought about that too. I could see it in a few years if McMenamin doesn’t work out. We all know AD is good at this, so even if things don’t end well in Edmond, he’ll likely be employed again within a year. If NW comes calling down the road, AD might not have the leverage to make the same demands, or the willingness to say no the next time around. That said, and others here know better than I do, those bridges may have been burned from either side.

huggy was under fire for multiple things each time. what impact that had idk but it’s worth mentioning. at uc he had players consistently getting into trouble with the law, sometimes very serious trouble. at wv he got his dui when he was supposed to be lying low waiting out the storm he created with some interesting remarks in a radio interview. something about Catholics and gays idr exactly what he said.

80% of the time everyday folks just forgot. MO DOR is horrible about sending reminders

You get insurance go....your lender and insurance company will be all over you.

The other 20% were dumbasses that were up to no good and/or had dope or illegal stuff in their vehicles.
