Yes it got really large about 2016 was reporting numbers near 10k. It has shrunk like all the Arkansas schools except sau. I also believe it included 2500 from there Branch campus which is mainly Vo-Tech. But this last president was a complete disaster. I think the school is just now beginning to get in the right direction especially when it comes to Athletics.

But uam, Henderson nwosu are all usually nder 2500. The rest of publics are under 5k I don't know the private numbers.

And for nsu being not in that conference is a prestige issue more than anything. We left them in the NAIA before they all bolted about you two years. We left the lone Star before they did. We've always tried to pair ourself with UCO but uco's just got enormous and we really had capped out around 7k from 05-20. ( Though the growth of our branch campus and the local medical colleges may change that) . In the 90's we were above 9k.

      West Alabama
      Delta state
      Utpb
      West Florida
      Mckendree
      William Jewell
      Msst

      Then Stephan F Austin
      And Northern Colorado.

I love Midwestern and UCO on that schedule. Even if things aren't as good as last year we can still finish around 500.
Looks like NE State added Truman to the schedule so just 1 spot left to fill.

Hopefully its a D2 team (maybe Central Oklahoma)?

Looks like Central Oklahoma is scheduled to play on Kearney on 10/31 so that potential game would have to happen on 10/24.

UTPB will not be near as strong last year with the coaching/player changes and Northern Colorado is beatable.

Has NE State been hit hard with the transfer portal?

The GSC teams are the toughest D2 games for now.

The key is did they keep their QB. I think he is still there. A lot of the people he brought with him were already done anyway. This year was going to be year you start to see how he was doing locally in recruiting.

I like adding Truman the only problem is that it's not an in region game.

In region doesn't matter in football. It hasn't for decades if it ever did.

It would have been if you were still in the MIAA. Co state schools of coconference schools are in region. Not that matters. What DOES matter is your number of games against D2 schools

They used to consider neighboring states in region, too.

As everyone knows its hard to determine what teams are going to do the next year.

NE State has scheduled really well adding playoff teams from last year (UTPB, West Florida, Truman), near misses (West Alabama and Delta State).

If NE State can scheduled that 9th D2 game and finish at least 8-1 with no bad losses, then I think they have a great shot at getting an at-large.

I think they would have had a great shot last year having an extra D2 game and not losing to Missouri S&T at home.

That last game will be a pain to schedule though. They only have Weeks 8 and 9 available at this point, which is smack in the middle of conference play for basically every team. They might be able to schedule a SAC team, I think they have a league-wide bye on Week 8, but that's really about it

If UCO has an off week for 10/31, then I think that would be the way to go like they similarly did last year to keep up that rivalry.

I agree with the SAC comment.
