Hey, Mountainmagic, I was reading your tweets. I had a really, really good belly laugh when you said poor li'l ole FLC worked so hard as compared to a rich Texas school who hands players "duffel bags full of cash." hahahaha! I've been around for 50 years watching WT basketball, traveling all over the country, going to practice, years ago traveling with the team, being a booster and consistent $ contributor to our programs......and if there were duffel bags of cash being handed out to our players, I'd know about it. hahaha!

We lost a D2 AA guard, Qua Grant, this year because we didn't have duffel bags full of cash. 3 years at WT with a natty final game against NWM, 1 year at Wichita State, and he had a year left. WT badly wanted him back. We couldn't put any kind of NIL money together for him and he followed the NIL money to Sam Houston where he's absolutely tearing up the WAC. Duffel bags full of cash. hahaha!

I'm a lot things but I'm not a loser and don't appreciate being called one. That being said, if you come to Gunnison for week 1 a 6 pack of whatever beer you like is on the house. Just pick a liquor store and it'll be there.

Absolutely. And the dynamic between the national and regional committees doesn't appear to be healthy.

Looks like the national committee overruled the regional committee. If I gad to make a SWAG I would bet it came down to $$$$$$s. 10 times as many potential local fans.

If it's about money, it could also be because it was more expensive to fly folks to Gunnison and to hotel them in Gunnison. I haven't seen the numbers so I don't know for sure. Just speculating.

As you probably surmised.......my last post was in jest. If I had it to do over, I would not have added that loser tag in my original post. I apologize. And yes, I've been to Gunnison 3 times. Twice for FB and once for BB. The last time I traveled from Farmington over Red Mountain.......my knuckles are still white and my palms damp. Never again that way. I'll go thru Pagosa and Wolf Creek. If I ever make it I'll DM you and we'll meet for a brew.

If it’s a toss-up or close to it, the team that has best access for travel is going to host. As it should be.

Just for fun I checked on motels. There are 11 motels for eight teams during Ski season. The town of Durango might not want to tie up their rooms for five nights when half the teams will leave after the first game.

If this was rodeo or stock show week ASU might not have been able to host.
