Let's hope this is wrapped up today. We've already missed a significant portion of the fall recruiting period and now with early signing today, I think the dead period begins where coaches can't so much say Hi to a prospect until sometime in January before the traditional signing day. Really this whole process should have been handled better or at least been much faster since everyone and their cat and dog knew the change was coming. But like some of the postings on here note, it's not just a change of playbooks or people on the sidelines that are at issue with this program.

At some point, people have to consider that A&M Sharp still wants merger and as things get more desperate at Kingsville more become more open to the idea. Hopefully, this doesn't happen. But from what I've been told the merger would bring in a lot more state funding through College Station to dsperse to both campuses. It would also raise the academic standards at Kingsville.

Pretty much how it went down. To borrow form John Kerry and his now infamous 2004 campaign gaffe, Lozano was for the merger before he was against it. And so were a few other local business and political types.
And yes a lot of funding is going to UTSA and UTRGV.... A&M Corpus and Kingsville are stuck in the middle, Plus both UTSA and UTRGV are making significant incentives to recruit students who Kingsville and Corpus also try to recruit.
Sharp is going to have to pull a rabbit out of the hat and then some to get this thing on the agenda again. Kingsville people don't trust Corpus people and it goes back several decades with the Naval Air Stations in both cities with base closures and Kingsville people always thinking Corpus people were working against them to save their NAS while pretending to care about Kingsville although the Navy has given Kingsville NAS high regards over Corpus NAS and really Corpus NAS has been in more danger of closure.. And then it was compounded when the name change occurred and Kingsville's own native son who was the State senator at the time and led the name change mob totally ignored his hometown constituents and fellow Alumni and favored his Corpus money people in his adopted hometown and shoved it down everyone's throat. Having said that I hope he's not punishing the school and the football program because of this. That would further add fuel to fire and salt to the wounds.
