I saw where Dave Campbell's Football posted Allen High School's football schedule. The last game of the season Allen is playing Plano East at Kimbrough Stadium. At first I was curious how Canyon was able to land such a well known 6A program and their game so far from the metroplex until I researched and discovered that Plano has one of their own stadiums named Tom Kimbrough Stadium. 😂

There is no poison to pick anymore especially with NIL. If you want to win LSC championships and beyond you have to recruit talent at the expense of possible 2.5 GPA. If you want true student athletes then D3 is going to be the model. If not do what Sul Ross and Western Oregon is doing and politely ask for a$$ kickings from Incarnate Word and ACU to supplement that athletics budget. Problem is WT is doing neither right now in my view in football.

But there current admin and culture is not a football inducive enviroment. Until that changes, they will be mediocre with a rare/occasional good year.

For a D2 program, WT is flush with cash from student taxes alone. But to your point, I've never been impressed with the financial grass roots support of the program from supposed boosters. Lots of bravado and not much $$. There are certainly SOME supporters that give significantly. But if you can't completely sell out your 8,000 capacity football stadium with season tickets at a measly $100 price, you simply don't have the support from the community that you need to be successful. Much less extra contributions above and beyond. And if you are a WT supporter not even buying season tickets to their major sports, you aren't really a supporter.
WT has always had conditional supporters. "I used to give until they fired so-and-so." "I don't buy season tickets because they suck." "I quit buying tickets when they eliminated the cheerleaders." Real programs have support through the good times and bad.
If I was WT, I would first focus on getting 6000 season tickets sold every year. Cross that bar and then worry about major gifts.

I'm expecting him to be gone by mid October. If he loses to WNMU it should be sooner.
