SFU has gained two home games in Canada - this week's game with WNMU and the November 12 game against WT.

Next week's game with Angelo State is still scheduled to be held in Blaine.

No. They only have to have birth certificates, so that makes it a little easier, but still they asked to change just two to four weeks before the games. It would take a lot to get hold of every birth certificate for 65 guys in that time frame, especially when you are dealing with several different government entities in several different states. What happens if one or two of your top players have some kind of administrative problem getting their birth certificate and you have to leave them at home?

This also doesn’t include having to change the charter flights, on-ground transportation, hotels, meals, etc. with just two to three weeks notice, which could include deposit forfeitures and cancellation charges. Remember planning your family vacation for 4 and the joy that was? Multiply that by 20. This isn’t the bigger FBS schools that have professionals that deal with this. In DII most of the travel arrangements are handled by one or two of the coaches. That is a lot of work for the coaching staff in the middle of the season and takes away from their normal coaching duties.

I understand SFU’s desire to have those home games be really their home games on the campus and in their stadium, but it’s just not worth the risk, amount of work, and headaches involved at this late juncture when both parties made the agreement at the beginning of the season and plans were made based on that agreement.

I’m a bit surprised SFU didn’t keep the games in WA. I would hope it was an agreement between the schools to allow the games to be moved back to Canada, but who knows.

I would assume there was some sort of contractual piece saying that if Canada dropped its vaccination requirements, the games would be moved back to Simon Fraser. In reality it's no big deal because Simon Fraser is 28 miles from Blaine Washington. The visiting teams don't need to change hotels or really adjust any plans other than the bus will drive a little farther.
It would be like staying in Amarillo and playing in Canyon. No big deal.

Looks like SFU is using a “home field advantage” by way of the paperwork to get there LOL

The Blaine stadium is within spitting distance of the border and is right next to a border crossing. SFU is pretty much a straight shot from that border crossing. I doubt it changed their travel plans any. Just have to take the bus across and come back to whatever hotel they reserved.

They just put actual stands in for their field so I can’t blame them for wanting to play there.

Wasn’t this considered when they were admitted to the conference? As others have stated travel shouldn’t be affected.

The "Loser is Out" Bowl could also be the "Western Oregon Knocked Us Out of the Playoffs" Bowl.

Stupid WOU... Tim Sullivan wasn't around to call it the "Annual Beatdown" so CWU lost their mojo.
