Portland to Ellensburg is a much longer drive. SeaTac is only about 1.5 hours away.

Why not Portland to Corpus, then 35 mile drive?????
There probably are not decent scheduled flights that would connect Portland to Corpus Christi for 75 to 80 seats. Like getting to San Angelo, they may not fly the larger airplanes into Corpus.

I know that ASU used charters to get to WOU (San Angelo to Portland); and SFU (San Angelo to Bellingham).

In talking with people that know, the cost of charters have really gone up since the end of COVID to the point that it costs about double to charter compared to using scheduled airlines. The GNAC schools have to make more trips compared to the current LSC schools so they need to economize.

It's probably about the same for CWU - drive to Seattle then fly from there - or is there a better airport than SEATAC?
The best way for CWU on commercial would probably be SeaTac to San Antonio. One flight with 110 miles ground at origin and 155 at destination.

I made a mistake in the post above. This year ASU flew a charter from San Angelo to Eugene for the WOU game. We flew to Portland in 2019.

Arrived at the hotel around 10 pm local time 17-hours door to door with a stop for food. If they could have skipped the stop in Seattle and flown direct from Portland it would have cut around four hour off the trip.

You should be honored by WOU as the most dedicated fan. Good job!

I don't see how WOU, SFU, and CWUcan keep up the travel expenses to stay in the LSC.

You picked a strange time of year to visit Kingsville. It's boiling there from May through October. You arrived with a "cold" front.

They used to have a very friendly tailgating setup there before the pandemic. Hopefully it's operating tonight.

Our wonderful California schools -- Humboldt, Azusa -- dropped the sport recently. And just when the GNAC was taking shape, Chico, Sonoma, and Hayward dropped it.

Dropping football to stay in an obscure athletic division is the definition of insanity. If they'd never moved to D2 guess what? There would be no protest on campus or uprising from alums. No one would've cared. It's certainly put us in a bind in many ways, despite successes in men's hoop and some in track.

It would be nice if we could play Eastern and Southern Oregon (both NAIA) in non-con, but everyone is protective of their little divisional kingdoms -- that no one knows about.

Just here for the game. Third WOU/TAMUK game we’ve been to here. We have a vested interest ;). Going to spend the next month on South Padre. We live in our RV when we’re not out of the country or house sitting.

Yes, good tailgating, we arrived at the stadium about an hour ago and everyone is getting set up.

                          That is a big concern.

WOU could play independent if people were flexible, like EOU and SOU, they could play Lincoln and Simpson of California, Simon Fraser and CWU, and various D2 schools. I hope the LSC works out and I want to keep football on campus even if they're Division 50. The university would be surprised at how many people like game day in Monmouth, but they take their cues from other stupid administrators that they meet at inane conferences. The LSC, D2, whatever, could be worked out if actually WOU worked it well. We choose to be the sleepy rural college, nothing more, nothing less.

Sorry, that was the team. We drove the RV down to the MSU game then flew back for the SFU game. We have made it to all the games last year and this year though.
